Anyone fancy spending £0 in September? Obviously you can pay bills and buy food, I have to get my car MOT’d, but no unnecessary purchases. Not even books...

I'm in! I spend too much on fripperies and wish not to. I have enough books to read, skincare to use and clothes to wear for the month of September and probably beyond. I will use this thread for accountability. Good luck to anyone else!

This is a great idea - I'm generally terrible at this (online shopping is the bane of my existence!) and having a group here to hold each other accountable would be really helpful.

I am trying to not spend unnecessarily this month. I overspent like mad the last couple of months due to lots of family birthdays. Food/bills etc are obviously allowed- but essentials only!

Me! I used to do this on Money Saving Expert and you can say how many No Spend Days (NSDs) you want to get in the month. Generally bills and supermarket shopping doesn't count.

This week I think I'd like to go for 5 NSDs. Out on Sunday for lunch so that will cost.

I'll join in too! But does this mean I can't discount my gym/fitness program? I couldn't afford it last week (it's for 8 weeks).

I'd love to join please. My husband getting demoted very soon and we are losing a huge chunk of income per year. So this will really help.

I may start this next week (did some online shopping today & got hairdressers at the weekend 😬).

Would presents for other people count? It’s our wedding anniversary soon and I have my eye on a piece of art from a local artist 🙈

I think fat club/gym/presents for others is all allowed, it’s the buying stuff that nobody NEEEDS which we are to stand firm against!
I did buy socks in Sainsbury’s this afternoon (three pairs of footlet things, five trainer socks, two thermal bed sock type pairs, £20 altogether) but the weather is turning and my sock situation was dire - I last restocked them properly in 2014 - so I think that’s not terrible.

Love this idea!
I feel since lockdown I’m more ‘aware’ of money, as in pre lockdown I wouldn’t think anything of spending £4+ on a takeaway sandwich now I wouldn’t at all
Everything is a treat now which I feel is how it should be ☺
