Re the ghouls hovering about the scene? I cannot understand why the police haven’t cordoned off that area. Everyone is being allowed to trample over evidence.
What if there were fibres not belonging to Nicola around the bench? Allowing random folk to sit on it( when she’s still not been found)seems utterly negligent to me.

Nicola's loved ones are not giving up hope of her being found.

Nicola's loved ones feel certain she did NOT enter the river .

The police feel strongly Nicola DID find herself entering the river.

Actual quotes that have been running live across the news channel tickers this morning.
Then a story saying please don't throw out theories .....if family and police are at odds with their beliefs could that also be stoking the fire?

Are her loved ones asking us not to believe the obvious ? Are the police wanting us to ignore the loved ones ?

On and off line it's coming across as a free for all right now.
I think Nicola’s family are in a sort of limbo/denial situation.

Realistically I think there are only 4 possible scenarios:

1. It was a tragic accident. She fell in the river. She has died.
2. She was abducted so perhaps is being held against her will. She *could* still be alive.
3. She decided to walk away from her life for reasons unknown. She is still alive.
4. She chose to enter the river by choice. Suicide. She is dead.

I think, as a family, they want to dismiss options 1 and 4 because it means there is no hope, she won’t ever be coming home so they are desperately grasping onto the other options.

In their appeal didn’t the parents say “Nicola if you are watching this please come home/make contact?”
They seem a close family so I don’t think she has chosen to leave them (option 3), so that means they think there‘s foul play.

However, the majority of abductions do not have a happy ending but, in rare cases, some do still get found alive.
It is the only option the family have left that there is still a chance that they will see Nicola again.
They are holding on to that possibilty for dear life because the other scenarios are too unbearable to contemplate.
It is the only way they can cope. Without a body and, by ruling out the other options, they can hold on to that hope that they will be reunited.

I can’t even imagine the hell they are going through right now. Those poor people.

Personally, I think it was just a tragic accident.

Just saw a comment on Lancs Police’s post, from someone saying “fair enough they’ve checked the river but they haven’t checked in the sea have they?!”

What are they expecting the police to do? Check all of the sea…..? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Any thoughts on why she stopped posting on SM at the beginning of December ? Not even a Christmas pic of the kids.
It could be something simple like she changed her profile from Public to Private so she may well have posted but, unless you were her friend, you’d not be able to see it.
Unless her friends or family clarify this (which is unlikely because they’ve more important things on their minds) then we will never know.

I don't know why people get so defensive and aggressive when someone posts their theories. Yes it would be a better scenario maybe if it was a simple accident but you just can't rule out that it was set up and foul play was involved. Many a cold case has been solved by Internet sleuths. They often have more time to delve deeply and find little things the police may miss. Every theory is a possibility until she's found.

People don’t tend to set up a play date 30 min before killing themselves.
Not necessarily true tbh. I know of a girl who taught a yoga class, went home and had a shower, put her coat on and then went out and stepped in front of an express train. The mind is a funny thing.
Hope her family get answers soon.

Nicola Bulleys friend has started a GoFund me to raise £100,000 to help with the search and for the family? I’m confused, is this appropriate and why is this money needed ?

It’s actually painful that people think the police have just gone oh river = she drowned. Done. No. They will painstakingly explore every avenue. Crimes aren’t solved by just assuming the first thing in sight is the culprit.

It is! I did wonder when I saw the image earlier when people were discussing ghoulish folks sitting there on the bench. But then I zoomed in after thinking that they weren’t exactly appropriately dressed for “ walking up north” an initially assumed newsreaders / reporters.
but it’s them!
Guys please tell me you’re joking, it’s a photoshopped image 😅😅😅 and in poor taste at that. Hopefully her family don’t see it.

I suppose deep down I just think if I was her and had been abducted and was out there in some kind of trouble. I would be praying there were people out there still fighting to find me and dive deeper than just assuming I'd fallen into a river. One thing we can all have is hope. Despite our differences.

It is extremely irresponsible and downright misleading for the forensics expert to be so confidently saying ‘if she’s in the river we will find her TODAY.’ Or words to that effect.
What if she IS in the river, but isn’t found by their team today? Then what? Do people give up searching the river? does that automatically eliminate accidental drowning as a possible scenario?

Because whilst most of us love a good gossip about this influencer’s bad hair extensions or that YouTuber’s annoying catchphrases, we see a difference between that and wild and unsubstantiated accusations about murder in an ongoing criminal investigation of a private citizen.

We can have as many “gut feelings” as we like about an Instagrammer’s skincare routine but that’s not how crimes are solved or prosecuted.
Christ anyone would think Tattles the Catholic Church!! 😂 believe me those “wild and unsubstantiated accusations” are in the mouths of thousands, if not millions up and down the country, being discussed in pubs, WhatsApp group chats and on Facebook article comments, all of them of course you’d disagree with. No one said that their gut feelings was going to prosecute or solve a case, people have come here to discuss not be taken the piss out of every single time they suggest something other than what the majority predict has happened. It’s a free world and I feel sorry for any tattlers wanting to share their opinion on this thread but hesitating because you might be at their throats taking the piss.

Mumsnet is a deeply insane little corner of the internet so I’m not surprised they've whipped themselves into a frenzy and got the thread banned.

Curtain twitchers are the worst 😂
Honestly I could start a bloody thread on some of the things my neighbours get up to. When we moved in she approached the postman to ask who all the letters were from that he posting through our letter box as she felt it was excessive . The postman told her to ask us. Anyway I digress.........

Someone has suggested online that the husband should jump in to see if the dog jumps in so they can work out with the dog being dry if she’s in there 😂😂😂😂

FYI I don’t find this case funny but some of the things are mental

That was a particularly horrible one. And I don’t care if someone feels “bullied” by me saying that.
Idk who said it and I don’t care, but it was such a ridiculous comment. He wasn’t even smiling, he looked utterly distressed and broken throughout the entire video. What does everyone expect him to do, roll around howling and clawing at the floor to ‘prove’ he’s sad?
It’s like some people have just never learned to read facial expressions and understand human emotions or something.
