"Campbell created Fashion for Relief in 2005 to raise funds for children living in poverty and adversity around the world, and says it has raised millions over the years for good causes through its annual charity fashion show. The Charity Commission is to examine whether Campbell and her fellow trustees “have properly exercised their legal duties and responsibilities under charity law”, and will investigate payments made by the charity to one of its trustees. It will also look at the charity’s spending and the management of Fashion for Relief by its trustees, including potential misconduct and mismanagement and the failure to file statutory annual accounts on time."

"The charity’s last set of published accounts show that in the year to July 2019 it raised £1,722,000, most of it through sponsorships. According to the accounts, £1,606,000 of that was spent putting on a charity event and paying for PRs and other staff. Just £5,515 appears to have been given to good causes."

So basically it was a tax write off and gave a charity pocket change.
I don’t get it how could it be a tax write off? Maybe money laundering, in that the sponsorships/ donations were dirty money? Still doesn’t make sense as noone has really gained anything, it’s just been spent on events and staff (and at less than £2.0m it’s not got much of either?) seems a bit of a strange way to launder relatively small amount of money

Well, we don't know who gained anything...who owned the companies the charity paid for those events?

Also, remember Naomi accepted blood diamonds handed over to her assistant at night as payment for something - she's desperate to hide as much as possible from the tax man. Perhaps she's not as wealthy as she likes to make out....

Yes I think them just syphoning money off to pay for day to day stuff is the most obvious explanation for this

The source of Naomi’s money has always mystified me.

She seems to live a lavish lifestyle, but didn’t/doesn’t seem to have the high-profile fashion campaigns or business ventures that her peers had/have.

Latest news - Naomi is blaming other people for the misuse of funds at her charity.

This is the best part from the BBC article:

Campbell, 56, also accused Hellmich of lying about her credentials as a charity lawyer, admitting that she did not do reference or credential checks because Hellmich "came across as a lawyer" and had worked in "official positions".

"I trusted the wrong person, what more do you want?" Campbell told the court, when pressed as to whether she should have done more due diligence.

"You trusted her too," she said, referring to The Charity Commission, "because you were in communication with her until we let you know that you were deceived."

When it came to their various roles as trustees, Westwood said that Hellmich had advised Campbell that she could "confine herself to a limited role" within the charity, "in effect, acting as a figurehead – while Ms Hellmich assumed responsibility for those regulatory and financial functions."

But in a written submission, the Charity Commission's lawyer, Faisel Sadiq argued that Campbell could not "abdicate" her responsibilities as a trustee to simply be a figurehead.

Back in the 90s I thought she was an absolute goddess. Her in the Michael Jackson video - I was only little but she was SO glamorous and beautiful.

To learn what a mean and awful person she is as I got older has really saddened me!

Of course it wasn’t her fault 🙄🙄
