Moving a wedding

Bit of a random one.. but can’t ask real life friends, because they don’t know we’ve booked anything.
We’ve got our wedding booked (venue, registrar, photographer) for early next year. It’s booked for the day of a close relative’s birthday.. That relative passed away since we booked the wedding.

is moving a wedding in this sort of situation a thing? I don’t know how I feel about celebrating on that day, it definitely won’t be a day of happiness and love.. but also don’t know if moving it is even a possibility. It’s mid-week, and the venue had 5/6 dates available around the time and said they were unlikely to fill them. I still want to get married in the same place, similar date just not the one we have booked. Do I ask? Are they likely to agree to moving it?

It won’t hurt to ask if you can swap days! Obviously just check with all your other suppliers that they can do the new date as well. Hope you get it sorted 😊

Agree with above post no harm in asking if venue has availability I'm sure they will oblige.

Definitely ask but maybe check the registrars have availability first.

I know registrars in my area are in very short supply and one friend who has a 100+ guests coming now won't be legally married on that day as the registrars aren't free!

I’m hoping that March isn’t too high demand… good point though! Thank you
