Moisturiser help!

I’m really in need of a good moisturisers, there is another thread about them but it’s SPF related. My skin is combination, it can be really oily at times but then also really dry. I’ve tried quite a few moisturisers and even have had two from the doctors and they just don’t agree with my skin. I’d ideally like something light, and something that will help with the ageing of my skin as it’s beginning to look really rough and I have a lot of lines. I don’t really have a budget and am willing to pay for something that will do a decent job.
Some ive tried are no7, childs farm, simple, the ordinary, vitamin E, Aveeno.

I've been using the Dr Sam bunting moisturiser, and am in love. Seems to be the only one that doesn't pile on my skin. She is a dermatologist with a you tube channel x

Bravura London azulene moisturiser is really lovely and light. It wears well under makeup and can be layered when you are feeling particularly dry. They give you a free consultation by email to recommend specific products suitable for your needs.

I’m currently using cerave moisturising cream as the azulene was out of stock for a while. That’s really good too but it is a heavy moisturiser. I’m fine with that now it’s colder and we are inside with the heating on all of the time but I don’t think I could use this in the summer.

Cerave do a moisturising lotion that is a lot lighter than the cream

I have combination skin and currently use (and like) a moisturiser by Cerave. The one I use is Facial Moisturising Lotion for normal or dry skin. I don't find it at all greasy.

However, neither this nor any moisturiser will do anything much to help with skin ageing. If you do want to start addressing those sort of issues I think you need to consider prescription skincare.

You may know this, but there are two companies who now offer an online prescription skincare service. They assess your skin needs through a questionnaire and photos and then make up a prescription to suit your skin. It's a monthly subscription service which costs about £20 a month. The two companies are Dermatica and Skin+Me. I currently use Dermatica, which is the longer established of the two, and am pleased with the service. I think both currently offer the first month free. I'd say this was worth having a look at for anyone interested in improving the quality of their skin.

The other important thing is regularly using an SPF, but I'm sure you know that.

Have you ever considered using a hyaluronic acid serum? It’s amazing for moisturising and also plumps out any fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a great shout if you are also concerned about anti ageing. This would be a good choice for moisture if you like the feeling of lighter products on your skin what sort of budget do you have?

Also, have you ever considered using a thermal water spray for moisture? Avene do a gorgeous one. These are literally just fine mists of water but are amazing for keeping your skin hydrated during the day and also have a lovely calming effect during lockdown life

I rate Estée Lauder moisturisers if you just need hydration/plumping/firming/general age defence. I noticed a visible difference when I used them. Stopped due to developing adult acne and switching to a more targeted product. They should give you a really decent sample too.
(I temped on beauty counters for a while & would have to use their products. Origins and Liz Earle is also rate. Dior, Bobby Brown and Clinique I wouldn’t bother with personally)

I do subscribe to the theory that if you require more targeted skin care. you should spend your money on a specialised serum and/or other actives and a moisturiser can be cheap it just needs to hydrate.
Decide if you like a gel or cream consistency, if you want it to sit on the skin or totally sink in and go from there.
Brands like Olay and L’Oréal have so much money they develop absolutely unreal research, also have huge economies of scale on ingredients etc so shouldn’t be sniffed at unless you have ethical concerns.
I like the French pharmacy brands like La Roche Posay and Vichy, similar products but feel more luxurious and less mass market.
Superdrug have some great products in their own brands which are all vegan and cruelty free if that’s a concern for you.

Look up La Roche Posay. They do a huge range of targeted product lines so I wouldn't be sure which one specifically to recommend you but have a read and see which suits. I use their Toleraine range as I have sensitive skin and quite dry skin and I love it.

After asking for advice I started using face theory. I use the moisturiser and eye serum . I'm in my 40s , have sun damage and this making a massive difference. I also swear by Elizabeth Arden 8hr hydrating mist . I've been using it for years , it's fantastic especially now having to wear a mask all day .

I've also switched my make up to Trinny Bff & bff de stress.

Spending more money than I used to but it's totally worth it .

I have sensitive combination skin and it sinks in nicely and is very light and hydrating

For SPF I recommend Asian sunscreen! They’re so seamless and easy to put on, usually no white cast, great consistency

Have you ever tried Clinique Moisture Surge, it's perfect for dehydrated skin, there are dupes for it too, Neutrogena hydra boost is brilliant at a fraction of the cost. I would recommend getting the serum and moisturiser, especially when Boots do their offers
