I've had both the copper, and the Mirena. Both were agony to get fitted (I've not had kids, which the practitioners explained can make it more painful). I got pregnant with the copper coil in situ, then the mirena embedded itself into my uterus. It was utterly barbaric having it removed. It could just be that they're not compatible with my anatomy, but I would never recommend them to anyone
