Hey! I thought it would be fun to talk about the outfits worn at this year’s Met Gala.
It was meant to be last year on the usual ‘first Monday in May’ but Covid put a stop to that.
The theme is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion and the celebrity co-chairs are actor Timothée Chalamet, musician Billie Eilish, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis star Naomi Osaka. Honorary chairs for the evening will be designer Tom Ford, sponsor Instagram's Adam Mosseri, and Vogue's Anna Wintour.

To make up for the lost year, the event will be split into two Gala’s/exhibitions with the 2022 theme being In America: An Anthology of Fashion. This second exhibit, along with the first, will be in the museum through September 22, 2022.

Both themes are about American designers so the scope is pretty big!

Debbie Harrys choice was great, enjoyed it. I'm not feeling many of the looks tonight.

This colour is OUTSTANDING on her, the dress looks amazing from the side/back but from the front is very underwhelming.

I should be sleeping why am I refreshing the met gala Instagram

A lot of the outfits have elements I like, for example the colour, but they are downright ugly.
Billie Elish’s dress I should like in theory because I’m a sucker for those ball gowns but it doesn’t seem fitted well? The colour with her hair doesn’t seem to gel? Her hair looks like a wig? I can’t quite put my finger on why I dislike it.

and Megan Fox. I saw an interview she did recently where she said she loves dressing sexy and hated when stylists/her management / etc wanted to dress her more conservatively.


Kim and Kanye turned up together. Allegedly, I mean it could be anyone under there.

Shittest Met ever, honestly.

- stupid horse dress
- Kim K taking masking up a bit far
- Gigi Hadid wearing a badly fitting “Girls’ World” hairpiece
- Madonna looking like a rejected Mattel version of herself
- too much boring black fabric
- so many of the clothes look cheap
- even Iman’s outfit misses the mark, something’s just not right there

I feel like this was one of the worst Met Gala's for people not embracing the theme. Apart from a few, (Iman, Gabrielle Union, Emily Blunt and a couple more) most of them just look like standard red carpet attire to me. Really disappointing. They've had long enough to think about it.

Most of the guys there from what I've seen seem to have gone more basic than normal in boring ass suits.

When Shawn Mendes is in one of the more interesting male outfits at the Met Gala, there's a problem. Because he's normally the King of the basic boring but looking good suit. I'm impressed he's pushed the boat out this year, less clothing, more accessories, it's bold for him.

Lil Nas X still smashing it for the guys though. Three outfits in one. All stunning. The Met Gala is meant for him and his extra outfits.

Not sure what was going on with Kimye’s burqas (perhaps hiding Ye’s skidmarks unlike his jeans in 2016) while Kendall’s dress reminded me of the year her sister turned up looking “soggy” for the camp theme.

I want more rich colours like Amanda Gorman and while she was looking like a villain from a He-Man film, loved the colour on Megan Fox’s dress. Can you tell I’m way over nude and beige outfits?

Peg the patriarchy was amusing.
Gigi looked awesome, proper glam with an edge.
Kendall was predictable but probably the best dressed.
I'm still going through the others, but I'm disappointed, I think the Kimye choice ruined the evening for me. Have read the arty farty theories on her outfit, like she's a mannequin and instantly recognisable, therefore iconic etc. I found her choice sad and oppressive.
