Menopause or Peri Menopause

I’ve searched to see if there’s another thread on this, but I couldn’t see one.
I’m suffering with menopausal symptoms mainly hot flushes (followed by freezing cold), lethargy/ tiredness, depression, anxiety, insomnia, sore joints mainly amongst other things. I tried HRT but put on so much weight and fluid retention I felt worse and sore. I just feel the menopause has hit me like a truck for such a long time, I really need to get my life back. I’ve managed to deal with the depression and anxiety (for now) but after so long like this, I don’t feel like I’m living.
How are you dealing with it?

Sorry to hear of menopause problems. Did you try more than one brand of HRT? I had to switch brands during a shortage in the UK and couldn’t get on with the replacement (I put on weight and bloated, had hot flashes). Yet when I got back to the original prescription it all righted itself.

Soy is good as long as it isn’t genetically modified and you don’t have a thyroid condition.

As hard as it is, before the HRT I found that losing just 7lbs made a difference to my flashes. Also exercise where you are working on the muscles, strength training rather than cardio helps.

Avoid taking hot baths and anything that allows your body to overheat, like drinking tea too hot or too spicy food. Your body needs to balance its own heating system. And if you are troubled by insomnia, try to have a regular bedtime/wake time regardless.

as well as B6, B12 helps too.

Hope some of this helps.

It helps massively with the down moods that sweep over you when it gets all to much.

Do you find the B6 helps in particular with the hot flushes?
