I watched the reunion earlier. Joey & Phoebe still look good or at least naturally ageing and then it follows order of looking puffy, smooth or just not quite right; Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler.

Rachel & Monica are definitely all fillered up. It sort of makes them look out of focus? Like there are no hard lines.

Old Chandler looks in bad shape, poor chap. Maybe self inflicted but the contrast is jarring when they show clips of him in the show being sharp and charming then going back to him now hunched, smooth faced and barely talking. Hooray for Hollywood, da-da-da-daaaa! :)

Puffy is the right word for it; when will people learn that it just doesn't look right? I know Courtney Cox has expressed regret for messing with her face. Didn’t realise about Jennifer, and I felt very sad seeing Chandler. To me it seemed like they were treating him a bit like a puppy in one respect whilst also being afraid of what he was going to say. It did come across as a bit bitter. However saying that, I think it would have been good to be a little more real about the show. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, it would have been interesting to hear their thoughts on forever being typecast as their characters. I know they want it to be a celebration but too much positivity just feels a bit...fake.

Going back to the cosmetic thing, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore are good HHollywood examples of growing older gracefully. People are starting so young with the fillers these days, scary.

It can come across as quite shocking when you haven't really kept up with them since Friends. When I think about other people their age in my own life compared to how they looked 17 years ago, I'd say the most that's changed is the grey hairs coming in. I hadn't seen the guy who plays Ross in anything until that OJ series on Netflix, I was really taken aback by how puffy but also deflated he looked. They all just look a bit rough if that makes sense? Matt and Lisa aren't too bad, I agree, their skin seems to be pretty good for their ages.

There is a really interesting take on Perry over on YouTube re the friends reunion. He says he doesn't remember filming a lot of the show but was never drunk or under the influence whilst filming just seriously hungover. I also didn't realise how much work he has done to help people with addiction.
The chandler character is allegedly very close to Perry himself and he was the only cast member involved with writing. I hope he is sober, he seems very honest about his struggle with addiction.

The bit that struck me at the reunion was when Perry said that it was agony for him when a joke didn't land - you could see how insecure he was about being 'the funny one'. He barely said anything else mind so that bit would stand out 🤣

It was sad to see though. I think the dental work excuse was just damage control. He used to be so edgy and quick and now he looks addled and defeated. Booze and drugs have really done a number on him.

I though Courtney Cox was a bit flat too. Jen and Schwimmer threw themselves into it the most, bless them.

Corden was a raging a as usual.

That part reminded me of the episode when Monica has a new colleague at work and she says to Chandler that this person has to be the funniest person she’s ever met. This then makes Chandler jealous as he sees himself as the funny one. He tells Joey & Ross about it and they speak to Monica about it. This then leads to the scene where Chandler walks in and starts telling loads of jokes and Monica, Joey & Ross are there laughing at everything he says in order to make him feel better. This jealousy seemed to spill over into real life for Matthew. In the reunion they spoke about that time that Joey/Matt came into the coffee shop and kept tripping over or he pulled the chair over. Matthew then said if someone else is getting a laugh I need to be in on this so he then came in and fell over on purpose for the laugh.

Matthew seems to put undue pressure on himself to get the laugh. They all have funny lines or moments but Chandler’s whole persona was as the funny one so Matthew seemed to think he was solely responsible for this even though most of the time it’s down to the lines he’s given

Didn't they say he also gave his input on the writing and would offer jokes, in which case that was even more pressure for him to be funny!

Just jumping in to agree about the teeth - they clearly weren’t his own, and looked a bit Bunny like at some angles.
I’m shocked he’s only 51 though; I don’t think he seemed in good shape on the reunion show, and I thought the others were a bit embarrassed by him, maybe even a bit cold towards him. Cant quite explain what I mean, but something felt off.
Yeah they kind of tiptoed around him, like wary of what he might say or do. He was just sort of there, nervous and uncomfortable. And when Janice came on (and awkwardly perked on the sofa for a few seconds, before having to leave again) she was really warm towards him and wanted to catch his eye, like she was on a different wave length towards him than the others. Probably me reading too much into it.
If he doesn’t remember series 3-6 I bet he was a nightmare on set at times. Must have been some dark days that they all remember.
I remember when it was still on the air I read an interview with him, and I’m he was saying one of the reviews of the first series a critic said they were all good looking but he looked like he’d had too many haggen dazs. His self esteem was really knocked by it.

Finally got to watch the reunion and right off the bat I felt like Jen was a bit OTT. Maybe that's just her as a person but I can't really explain it. Courtney seemed to be a bit embarrassed by her character being with Matthew's in the way she completely wrote him off in the future scenarios in comparison to Jen and David. Matt and Lisa seem really chill which I like. I don't feel like Matthew was as reserved and down in the dumps as it's been made out? He probably just didn't have much to add considering he doesn't remember a lot of the show, and felt stressed to make everyone laugh at all times.

yes JA is either the warmest person ever or she is extremely ingenuine- I couldn’t make my mind up which it was!

one thing that struck me about the show was MP saying that he didn’t hear from anybody- I wonder if that’s true!

I think she is the most genuine person ever and just wears her heart on her sleeve. Joey made a joke about it. Oh Jen never cries he said sarcastically lol.

It's a shame about MP. It must be really hard having a friendship with someone with his issues. I wonder how much it did really affect the filming etc

I know it will never happen but I’d like to know more about the dark side of it all. About how Matthews addiction effected the filming. And remember how tiny all the women were? It was a big deal at the time how thin they got. Would like to know more about those pressures. And, other than Lisa who has been married to her husband since 1995, they all seem to have burnt through relationships.

I've just watched it, and I sadly think that MP was off his face when they filmed this, he could barely utter a coherent sentence. Like a PP said, I don't he's long for this world either and I get the feeling that this had to be arranged now.

I just felt sad watching it, tbh. MLB looks so lovely and normal, whereas the rest all looked like distorted versions of themselves.

Yeah I'd like to know that avoid body image. In the first season JA was slim but had hips and had a naturally curvy figure but shrank in size and lost those curves. Similarly Courtney Cox got so skinny.

Lisa has spoken about the body issue stuff, hasn’t she?

Edit:

thought she had.

Remember when that Coronation Street guy got a greyhound and called it Monica, because she was so skinny? Jen An got the proper lollypop head look in about Season 4. However, all the ladies seem to be pretty happy and healthy now. I'll always be grateful for the 6 of them for bringing those beloved character to life.

I think what’s happened to Matthew Perry is very sad. I think he was the most talented of all the Friends actors but has squandered all his potential for his life on and off screen through his addictions. It’s such a shame he seems unable to get and stay clean. Like others have said I don’t see him living a long life as he already looks desperately ill.
