The friends cast are 5 people, I’m sure it was just drafted by a PR Firm and approved for sending. They haven’t had time to craft a big tribute, they’re respecting his family and friends by avoiding anything controversial or upsetting. It’s a “place holder” of a comment.

Why do people think all of the Matt man / Batman posts were a cry for help ?
1) the posts were out of character from his usual style of posting i.e. cryptic captions and posting in quick succession after a long period of silence
2) the pic of the cranberries - the lead singer of the band The Cranberries died from drowning in 2018
3) the foreshadowing of his last post being in a hot tub is eerie
4) one of his captions said "do you understand what i'm trying to tell you?" in hindsight people are thinking it couldve been a cry for help.
5) he said in his book he would send out a batman signal if he needed help

Oh I didn't know #5. I wondered why he kept posting batman signals. That's very telling they were among his last posts.

I read that the mattman was referencing a script he was working on and maybe was getting ready to promote.

All does seem odd now. Strange coincidence? Lots of posts after not much for months

Surely though if he was going to take his own life and his book as a farewell he would have done it before now?
I am sure I read the police said they didn’t suspect foul play. I hope not anyway, he seemed really troubled and I wouldn’t like to think that was how he chose his ending.
TMZ said foul play wasn't suspected but as usual they were smart arses about it, making a big deal of saying...not at this point before adding that the LAPD Robbery Homicide Dept were now investigating only to then turn around and say it wasn't actually a big deal and is quite common when it is a death of someone considered high profile and they will wait until the tox report comes back before deciding whether to investigate further.

I don't read into the Batman stuff too much, he was clearly just a huge fan. I seen some of the aerial footage of the house (TMZ are a disgrace) and the bottom of the swimming pool has the Bat signal.

The Batman stuff is just a conspiracy theory. He loved Batman and was known to call himself Mattman at times for years so let it go.

Maybe he was the Batman?

Robins going to have to step up now to keep public disorder in the city down IMO.

In context I think they just mean when they feel comfortable to do so individually in their own personal way, they shouldn't have to be forced to rush out and post something just because the media are hungry for the clicks.
This reminds me of when John Lennon was murdered and someone shoved a microphone in Paul McCartney’s face and asked him how he felt. All he could come up with is “It’s a drag” which was taken to mean that he didn’t care that deeply. In fact he was devastated and could barely find the words.
Social media is a nightmare. Don’t say anything soon enough and there are questions. Say anything too soon and get the tone wrong and you get flak. Whatever you say gets picked over for alternative meanings. You have to be so careful.

It’s really hard with how intrusive the media and social media is when you’re grieving. Just because the cast are famous doesn’t mean they’re used to it. Everyone wants more and more info, quotes, rake over the (public) history. It’s horrible.

yip! its amazing how completely wrong conclusions can be made! when I first had the likes of FB I loved as it was a means of communicating with family and friends especially ones who lived abroad, I remember when a relative posted a photo of my just deceased Parent I didn't make a comment on the post did that mean I loved my Parent less? no I was respecting the fact that my Parent was a private person and would not have wanted their photo and death details shared on a social media site,

No one should have to make a statement on social media. It’s ghoulish trying to get them to cry for everyone’s entertainment. They are probably devastated. But even if they are just a bit sad, it’s nobody’s business - they worked together 30 years ago.. the comments at the moment on Instagram are all either Free Palestine or say something about Matthew Perry. It’s weird.

It’s weird and it needs to stop. I know he’s “famous” but so what? You don’t own him. If you’re sad at his passing, go and watch some old interviews.

I’m so disgusted at all the rit fashion sites on Facebook trying to cash in on friends merch with his face etc on it. Ghoulish and greedy!

In some cases, it hasn't truly sunk in yet either. My nana died when I was a teenager and was the first close relative that I lost. I naively thought if I refused to admit it, it would mean it wasn't true and found out the hard way how wrong I was.

Foul play just means he wasn't murdered. It doesn't mean suicide or OD are ruled out.
