Mandela Effect/False Memories

My dad and I can both clearly remember having a conversation with my grandfather about the events of 9/11. We both remember the conversation exactly the same way. Particularly relevant as my aunt and cousin were in New York at the time.
My grandfather died on the 9th of September, we can’t explain it.

I have something similar with 9/11.
I was only 9 but I distinctly remember waking up on holiday, in a caravan and mum watching it on TV on the news.
But we went on holiday the week before.
We went home on Saturday the 8th and 9/11 was the Tuesday after.
I haee such a clear vivid memory of watching it in the caravan though!

The fairly recent one was when ITV did that three part series called Quiz about the Who Wants to be a Millionaire coughing cheat. Absolutely loads of people were posting that they remembered watching the episode at the time and even back then they knew something was off, etc.

But they didn’t. They couldn’t have. The episode where he cheated was never broadcast. Clips from the episode aired on a documentary about the scandal as the trial gained momentum, but that’s it. Yet so many people commented they watched it.

To be fair, I should have clarified that ITV2 did air an edited version of the episode a few years after the court case had finished, but when the TV show Quiz was on, loads of people commented saying they watched it happen at the time and knew something was suspicious which simply wasn’t true - the edited episode aired once he was found guilty and people wouldn’t have watched it with any suspicion because the outcome was public knowledge by that point!

But I've always seen it on the bottles as Worcestershire cause but always called it Worcester sauce

I know, even though Walkers confirmed, I still won’t believe there wasn’t a switch haha.

Don’t know if this counts, but it blew my mind. So I used to love Blackpool Pleasure Beach. I would go a few times a year so I am confident that I knew my way around. About 2 years ago, I found out there was a ride there on all my visits up to about 2005 that I had no idea was even there.

Golden wonder always had cheese and onion green, s & v blue maybe people get the brands mixed up .

Own brand crisps can be either which can be confusing.

In the 70s my sister lived Peterborough I stayed up there and went to buy some crips they sold walkers ( hardly anywhere else sold them)picked up the green pack that had always been synonymous with cheese and onion and they were salt and vinegar. I had to throw them away as hated them. . from my first pack of walkers cheese and onion in a blue bag I was hooked so much so that my husband had to drive from London to Peterborough when I was pregnant to buy me a whole box..

Goldern wonder was the most popular crisp at the time and those and every other crips maker had them the other way around to walkers. then slowly walkers took over as the biggest seller. I believe that is how the misremembering of that came about.


I do believe in the Mandela affect but I know 100% that walkers have always had their cheese and ioion in blue packs.

The Walker's Crisps is a total Mandela Effect. There is a 200+ page thread on another site where posters are convinced they remember a change. Good God, I remember a big deal being made in the 90s when the packets were changing colour. Where did this come from? As @Purrrrrrr said, the fact that Golden Wonder have it the other way around (Or the RIGHT WAY!) might count for something but for so many remembering the packets changing it really makes you think.

I too, especially at the time the drama Quiz was broadcast, saw many people commenting that "I saw it when it was broadcast, I KNEW something was going on!!!" As has been said, it was never broadcast at the time - but there was a "Tonight" special which showed the programme with enhanced coughing.

Oddly enough isn't that a Mandela Effect in itself? The episode is known as the "Coughing Major" but Charles Ingram didn't actually do the coughing..... or am I taking it too far?

I am reading everyone's contribution's to this thread - it is a great interest of mine and I am pleased to read what others think of it.

When I was a kid in the 70's, the most popular crisp brands were Golden Wonder and Smiths. Both used green packaging for cheese and onion, and blue for salt and vinegar. There are loads of images online of the old packaging, it's just that they weren't Walkers!

Me too!! I always look for the green pack. Its obviously salt and vinegar and not cheese and onion but I remember it being green!

A bit part isn't even that I remember them being the opposite colour. It's that I remember there being a big thing about them switching colours at the time!
