She can write ‘Love was all we needed but time let us down’ as many times as she wants but I think Lucy, what you’ll find let you down, is that you couldn’t stop yourself murdering innocent babies. Just a hunch, but I’m not sure that’s a desirable quality in a partner from a paediatric consultant.

After the texts from yesterday I'm more and more convinced the attention and sympathy she got from the babies dying was a big part of it. She got so frustrated when her colleague wasn't giving her the response she needed so she engineered another situation where she'd get the response she wanted. I also wonder if this is why she ramped up so much towards the end: she was getting attention in spade-loads from Dr NN so she kept engineering situations to get more from him, even going so far as to directly ask for him and only him to respond to an incident.

Yup. Notice “the kind words I shared with that family”

I usually keep cards people give me to remember their kind words — not mine. I also don’t flatter myself and call my own words “kind”. Isn’t that something others are supposed to say about what you wrote, as opposed to you saying that about something you wrote for them?

Just typing as I think, rambling basically but Someone has posted on fb that they had their baby on the unit after all this had occurred and asked the nurses about LL and their thoughts. She said potentially because she was super worried about her baby the nurse tried to put her at ease and said they had all been shocked when the news came out, and that LL had been quiet and socially awkward, which I guess is a picture we have built up? I know not ground breaking stuff and obvs could be made up but I don’t know this last week has really baffled me, I’m still thinking G, but the notes and the interviews are thought provoking in the sense they do depict someone who appears extremely anxious, maybe even hyper stressed and ill, but it’s more the things she says, like a desperation to be seen as innocent (which again I know u would be if u were G) help me etc. alongside all the other evidence I do completely understand that someone was harming the babies and after such a long investigation they do have the right person no doubt, but this is the first week where I’ve slightly questioned things abit more.
gosh even reading that back sounds crazy, I jst think the evidence this week has brought up more points that the defence will pick up on…
I respect what you have said and do not wish to be offensive in response; nothing personal - ll just riles me up. My thoughts are that her notes scream self-centered, self-pitying, resentful, murderous bitch all wound up in her own head. I agree she sounds distressed & I believe she is in the throes of an intensely addictive compulsion that is nigh on uncontrollable, which threatens to end her present & future hopes if discovered/revealed. Still, she plows forward without seeking help because she somehow feels entitled to all her dream goals AND the feeding of this bizarre need, no matter the impossibility of those things being compatible - no matter the rights of others beings destroyed. She is in a predicament because she wants BOTH a normal life and to kill without consequence. She plots and schemes to continue on her path and controls it well enough to conceal her actions. So she wasn’t truly beyond control. She could have chosen to confess it to someone, but that would have meant certain loss of her career, respect, freedom, etc. OR she could have quietly pursued some other career path & lifestyle where such temptations are absent. It was a one way or another choice - not a good place to be, but it is a measure of her selfishness that she chose not to seek help or move away from what triggered her urges. Hell, maybe I would have done the same but I’d like to think I would not have. She could have went to a therapist before she acted & confessed to intrusive thoughts & urges to do wrong, based solely on knowing what she wanted to do was wrong. Or she could have sought help after the first offense, and taken whatever punishment deemed appropriate in order to have a shot at redemption. I don’t envy her at all & it’s certain she lacked some emotional resources, but to opt to continue killing and maiming the vulnerable? It’s like a pedophile getting a job at a school - he/she knows where that will lead. Yes, it’s unfair to be so effed up, and it’s sad for her that she must choose, but it doesn’t mean she had no choice. We all make choices on the regular to abide by moral principles even when they deprive us of other things we’d like better - granted, I’ve never had such a dilemma as her but it seems pretty clear-cut to me what the right thing is here, and killing preemies isn’t it. I am fortunate to not have such thoughts, but there are psychopaths that function within the rules that do have such inclinations - because they choose. Not all of us are so blessed to be free of mental defects - I get that - but if you are an unlucky one, you must still abide by societal norms. I hope some day there is a means to measure the health of a mind when becoming a parent or in any position of trust, because these folks damned sure do not always choose the high road. Maybe that is what evil truly is. I hope this doesn’t sound too moralistic/self-righteous, as I do understand we are not all as well-equipped upstairs.

Ok so the CS article expands a bit more on that messaging. BIB is concerning!! either her involvement or possible trigger.

On the evening of June 13, 2015, the court heard she texted a fellow nurse: “I just keep thinking about Mon(day). Feel like I need to be in 1 to overcome it but (nurse) said no x.”

Her colleague, Jennifer Jones-Key said: “You need a full-on break from ICU. You have to let it go or it will eat you up.”

Letby said: “I just feel I need to be in 1 to get the image out of my head. To be in 3 is eating me up. All I can see is him in 1.

“It probably sounds odd but it’s how I feel.”

Her colleague replied: “It sounds very odd and I would be complete opposite.”

Letby responded: “Well that’s how I feel… You don’t expect people to understand but I know how I feel and how I have dealt with it before.

“I voiced that so can’t do any more but people should respect that.”

Letby went on to explain when working at Liverpool Women’s Hospital she had “lost a baby one day and a few hours later was given another dying baby just by the same cot space”.

At 11.09pm she texted her colleague: “Forget it… I’ll overcome it myself. I’m obviously making more of it than I should x.”

At 11.15pm the baby boy, Child C, suddenly deteriorated in room one, jurors have heard.

I’m so sorry but you’ve just described hanging on to things because they have a significance to you and you’ve described that perfectly. She had three police interviews to explain herself in any way. I have cards, notes, mementos, lesson plans that were really successful, photos of great displays, interesting sheets and notes from training I did that I’ll never look at but can’t chuck just in case.
All those things are normal. I can explain them.
And really really significantly, the people named in stuff I’ve kept didn’t die just after I’d had access to their veins. It’s a very big difference.

Can you imagine! Bev might give Letby her signature mullet/crop.
i saw on tiktok bev used to poo on baking trays and put them in the oven whilst at uni. That probably should have told everyone she was not all there🤣

Yes I guess it’s distraught about what though and why. The fact that she seems in distress doesn’t mean it’s because she’s an innocent person in distress either. It’s not a coherent outpouring of what’s going on at all, I think of the sentences I would write if I felt I’d been accused of this and I can’t really find anything much I could relate to. It has doodles, her name with a kiss under and squiggles and love hearts. Like a teenager bored in class. And then absolutely bat shit stuff.
I still think it makes me wonder when she wrote the one that is confessional.
I do think they’re written by someone in distress but I don’t think for one minute it’s distress at being falsely accused. It’s distress that Dr Noname has washed his hands of her, distress that she’s not getting her own way, distress that her horrific crimes are being exposed and distress that she has lost control.
She’s heartbroken that she’s lost Dr Noname and she’s in a panic that her life is spiralling out of her control. It’s gone beyond a hospital investigation - the police are involved, Dr Noname isn’t talking to her, she’s had to tell her parents what’s going on, she’s about to be exposed in the papers. But notes don’t show any distress about being accused of these horrific crimes or the victims. The only one that shows any kind of upset about what was going on is the original note we got at the start of the trial and on re-reading that today it did cross my mind that it was notes of thoughts she had for a suicide note and confession, which is also why she’s kept it tucked away in her diary. I think the police just got to her before she could write it.

I wish there was a way that we could somehow gauge what the jury is thinking right now. I was thinking at this point, surely everyone must think she’s guilty, but then I went onto facebook/twitter and it’s full of people really insisting that she is innocent still… it’s really odd to me.
But they say things like “there’s no evidence” 🤪 as if the jury have been twiddling their thumbs for months on end.
Or they say it’s circumstantial as if leading pathologists and radiographers saying there is air there that can only have been administered is not as close as this gets to say a stabbing victim having a knife wound! The method is air, here is the air, here is the opportunity when the suspect has access, here is data to show she was there, here are her own words saying she was there, here is countless witness statements to show it presented exactly how air administered would present, here is a heap of evidence to say it can’t be explained as a natural event, here is a load of fucking creepy stuff she did…here are two poisonings that aren’t disputed!! A bloody confession 😅

What exactly is missing? A photo or video of her doing it? But she’d look like she was giving care for most of the allegations. Someone walking in and she is physically assaulting the baby? Well no that didn’t happen and she would have been stopped there and then but then had that happened.. you’d believe every story of babies full of air and milk and fluid and injuries and poison wouldn’t you! There even are incidents that come as close as possible to catching her in the act and it’s still not enough. Tubes pulled out, alarms not going, babies covered in blood, bleeding in strange and unaccounted for ways.

What more can there possibly be for this crime, for what is alleged? It is an absolute mountain of evidence!

Sorry but I find this mental tbh.
Even if you don’t consider that she’s on trial for murder rn, this does not come across as someone who should be working with extremely unwell babies. It’s an emotional job yes but demanding to be put in a certain room to ‘overcome’ it is too much.

I expected more from the police interviews but like already mentioned so much has been redacted and we have not been given any idea of her demeanor or presentation throughout. It just feels like over diluted squash at the moment. Hopefully the rest of the week won't be so bland and we can get down to the nitty gritty.

Has anyone here been accused of anything they haven't done? Obviously not anything to this scale but at high school as I was the prankster I got accused of setting the fire alarm off. All these years later I can remember the feeling of pure frustration, irritation and unjust. It was a horrible feeling.

I cannot imagine being arrested for multiple baby murders and each time sitting there and casually answering questions. I'd be fucking raging. Of course we're not going to get that from Lucifer but I'd just like to see a hint of rage from her. Rage for the unnecessary death of these babies. Rage for her supposed innocence. Doodles screaming her innocence, grief for the babies. Just something, some evidence of normal human reactions that are for someone else other than herself.

I work on a palliative ward and can kind of understand her reasoning about wanting to be in room 1 again.
When we have patients who are young or have been with us a long time it is cathartic in a way to have that room your next shift, especially if you weren't there when they died.
I also understand not fully remembering situations. You speak to so many people in a shift and see so many patients.
However having read the fantastic wiki , my vote is guilty. My shock is that she wasn't a suspect sooner.

It has somewhat annoyed me that the daily mail report LL’s unmade bed after her arrest with the implication of idleness and general dishevelled sort of lifestyle! Murderer or no, what sort of person is awake before 6 in the morning with their bed made?

It does make me think ‘shit, I really hope I am never arrested’ 😂

The lack of public knowledge in this case is bizarre to me but I guess it's the nature and the length of the trial that keeps the media bubbling away quietly. I'm sure it'll blow up in the next few weeks and it'll be all over everywhere!
Us when everyone’s finally talking about it

Short and sweet from Dr OA. I guess the sum of it is that the issue in his bowel was air and he got transferred to AH thinking he was so poorly with NEC but instead he recovered very quickly and no surgery was ever needed. He didn’t have NEC unless yet again it presented ridiculously bizarrely.

something I want to thought dump here but hopefully not in a KAREN REES KAREN REES BERGERAC LOVE TIGGER AND SMUDGE I LOVED YOU BUT YOU FOUND OUT I WAS A PSYCHO RE-EE- WIND WHEN THE CROWD SAY BO SELECTAAA kind of way…

It’s obvious but…it is interesting to me that when Letby has just accessed the babies veins, the baby has symptoms of air in the bloodstream, and the forensic evidence of that found by the experts. And when Letby has just had access to their stomach.. the babies have issues with vomiting, air in the bowel etc. it is far more than just she is there or worked more often. It’s so simple.

I hear Dr Noname will not be giving anymore evidence in the trial- after seeing Monday's evidence he has gone into witness protection.

He was Tigger, the way he'd come bouncing onto the ward when she bleeped him and she was Smudge from the ink on her hands from all the notes she wrote.

Hey, hope you are all well. I haven’t posted much recently but have been reading along. I’m still team guilty!

Any way, I have recently started a new job and we are in full training mode (hence my absence). Had a full on day of safe guarding training, and guess who was brought up by our trainer…… Lucy Letby! Seems the consensus in their department is that she is guilty! factitious disorder was also mentioned by our trainer as the reason. I don’t by this, but thought it was interesting that this professional had come to this conclusion, and felt confident including it within todays training, when she hasn’t been convicted yet.
