We live in the Midlands so have done Birmingham / Manchester / Liverpool to death. Where should we go? We enjoy finding cool, kid-friendly places to eat and just generally enjoy sightseeing and exploring. I have such itchy feet post-lockdown!

If you've not been to Scotland then try Edinburgh or Glasgow. There is so much to see and do! Lots of places to eat, the bus tour (hop off if toddler gets restless, then hop on again). Both are great places to visit.

I can think of so many but I’m not sure if they would all be child appropriate!!?

I love Bath for a trip. So pretty and lots to do! If you are staying longer you could explore the Somerset countryside and even venture to Bristol for the day.

York is also a really lovely city and lots to do. Again if there for longer you can explore some of the countryside.

Cambridge and Oxford are both nice. I’m not sure if there’s much to do for wee ones but there must be!? I last went to Oxford this time last year and it was HEAVING but I expect most places would be over summer.

Edinburgh is beautiful but hilly and cobblestoney!

If you plan to drive, although not a city I would actually suggest St Andrews/the east Neuk of Fife over Edinburgh. St Andrews has lots to see and a good beach for toddler to run around! There are lots of little villages along the coast which are lovely to wander around. You can also travel easily to Dundee which isn’t the prettiest place but has the V&A and the Discovery.

Glasgow has a lot of great museums and is a bit more fun than Edinburgh but is nowhere near as pretty.

Personally think Aberdeen is too far / not a lot to do (sorry Aberdonians!).

Inverness/the Highlands are also too far. Amazing but would need longer than a weekend!

As a Weegie, I’d say Glasgow has a lot to offer. Might not be “as” pretty as Edinburgh, but there’s lots to do and see:

- Kelvingrove art gallery and museums
- Riverside museum of transport
- Glasgow Science Centre
- Botanic Gardens
- People’s Palace and Gardens
- Lots of country parks/play areas for wee ones
- Great variety of shops and restaurants
- Hop-On Hop-Off bus tours for sightseeing

If Edinburgh seems more your thing there’s plenty to see and do there too:

-Edinburgh Dungeons (may be too scary for little ones)
-Camera Obscura & World of Illusions
-Edinburgh Zoo
-Edinburgh Castle
-Arthur’s Seat
-Dalkeith Country Park
-The Royal Mile
-Princes Street Gardens
-Walking Tours like the Harry Potter tour/Greyfriars Kirk/Underground Vaults tours if that’s your thing.
-lots of shops, bars and restaurants.

Norwich is a beautiful City and well worth a visit. It is the best preserved medieval city in the UK and has plenty of historic buildings to see. It has loads of independent shops, bars and cafes that are perfect for kids. There is currently a dinosaur trail to follow that will take you round some of the landmarks.

If you’re driving you’re under an hour from the coast - plenty of white sand beaches: more unspoilt to the North, more lively to the South. You can even get to see some new Banksy artwork.

London.

Expensive but there are some pretty good deals that go on Booking.com that don't differ too much from any other city tbh.

I would definately dedicate a day to the muesems. The Natural History and Science Museums in particular have alot of interactive stuff and they are geared to capture little and grown up minds alike. Transport Museum can be a bit of a bore unless your child is avidly interested in sitting in a bunch of old vehicles.

KidZania is a brilliant day out for a toddler. It's worth getting a Merlin Pass because they allow you to access a few attractions like London Eye, SeaLife, Shreks adventure, the Dungeons etc. Theres also London Zoo, Kew Gardens, there really is so much to do you might want more than a weekend. Im a Londoner.

A bit left field and would require plane or boat (that could be fun!) but Belfast
