Depends, I live here so what I'd do would be very different to someone who rarely visits.Hi all!
Looking for inspiration!
You have a full day to yourself in London. What would you do?, Where would you go? And most importantly what would you eat?
Is there anywhere you would recommend? Good museums, best place for shopping? Or food?Depends, I live here so what I'd do would be very different to someone who rarely visits.
I wouldn't go shopping here to be honest, unless you're after a particular type of thing or shopping experience then since Covid in particular you can't get anything really that you couldn't get on the Internet or another high street. Is there anywhere you would recommend? Good museums, best place for shopping? Or food?
Thanks, I'll check that out, a little market sounds niceI don’t personally think the cable cars at the 02 are worth it as there isn’t really anything on the other side so a lot of people don’t bother getting off. If you fancy going down the river a bit, I would recommend getting the Uber boat to Greenwich and get off there. There is the Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum and Greenwich market. It’s a lovely place to spend the day and travelling by river is a great way to see the sights from a different angle.
Londoner hereHi, jumping on this thread, not going for a day but I'll be there around 4 days, seen a reel on FB about a all you can eat dessert, looked fun to try but I've no idea what it's called, done a search online but it's only bringin up a cake place which wasn't the one I had seen, does anyone know if this is a thing?
Also is the cable cars worth it? An what could I do in around 4 days? Last time I was there wasn't long so feel like I can relax more an see more this time
Thanks so much for this, will definitely be checking out as much as I can as not sure when I'll get back down again, sounds like Greenwich is going be a good day out an we are there early September so will check out the Yoko Ono exhibitionLondoner herethere's lots to do - would agree with the above poster who suggested Greenwich, it's a lovely spot with some nice pubs along the riverfront for lunch. You've also got the Royal Observatory at the top of Greenwich Park which is a great experience.
I have a few friends that have gone to https://jackandbeyond.com/pages/bottomless-cake-event which is in Battersea if you were after some good cakes. Would also recommend Spitalfields market for some yummy not too expensive food. Borough Market is also great but is nearly always heaving, and you will be charged £10 for a pot of chocolate covered strawberries
If you're into nature, Kew Gardens is gorgeous (can be quite far out depending on where you are staying) especially if the weather is nice. Same as the Kyoto Gardens in Holland Park, lovely to stroll through on a nice day.
The Tate Modern quite often has exhibitions on that may take your fancy (I know currently there is a Yoko Ono exhib on until September)
The Sky Garden (walkie talkie building, Fenchurch St) is free to get into if you fancy a nice view to take pictures from, they also have a bar for drinks (albeit pricey!).
Lastly you've obviously got your good old museums, Natural History, V&A, National Portrait Gallery, Science Museum (if you have kids) are all free entryx
