I voted today but can’t respond to your poll as I’m a real floating voter with fairly equal distain for all parties so I pick the least awful option to me at the point of voting.
I probably wouldn’t have bothered today but our current local councillors are utterly dreadful and have lied to my face on numerous occasions about a pertinent local issue which has led to me wasting time in submitting FOIA requests. I expect they’ll hold their seats but it would be wrong of me to not vote when I have such a strong opinion opposing them.
I also used it as a bit of a learning experience for my youngest child who’s school was being used as a polling station. I gave her all the leaflets to read from the various candidates and asked which ones she liked and why and I took her with me. She was incredibly underwhelmed by the local church hall (she said it smelled like old people and cat pee) and the whole experience (which was all a bit ‘Fawlty Towers’).
