It definitely happened, as he took screenshots of all the messages. I did think ‘catfish’ when I was reading the article, but it says at the bottom that the TV executive doesn’t deny sending the messages or offering Levi the role under false pretences.

When I first became aware of this case, I thought “young guy who hasn’t long come out of the closet alone in Barcelona - he’s gone off with someone on Grindr and it’s gone wrong”. However, there’s been absolutely no mention of any dating apps in the reporting so this is almost certainly not what happened.
Then, in the GMB interview, his mum mentioned that he asked to borrow money in one of their final conversations. Next, all these stories about debts and gangs come up. It might be media sensationalism but maybe there is some truth to it.
Now there’s footage that appears to show he was mentally unwell.
It’s really sad that it literally could be any of those outcomes or even something else entirely. I hope he is found safe but if that doesn’t happen, I hope his family get the answers they need.

Thats not what catfishing is. Catfishing refers to the creation of a fictitious online persona, or fake identity (typically on social networking platforms), with the intent of deception. This was a real person, a real tv executive. they went to the real tv executives home and presented the evidence.

Hope his family get some positive news soon. It must be awful going through Christmas and New Years without him, and not knowing if he's doing ok. Especially if he's sleeping rough in this weather

I think you need to re-read the article. Byline Times contacted the alleged rapist who confirmed he had sent the messages. They did not confirm they had met levi at a sex party though.
Not sure where you have got this catfish theory from - unless you've just made an assumption?

dont know, my mind went to Simon Cowell but I think they would have made it more obvious in the article. In the article they call him:
-leading TV executive
- a man
- leading television industry figure
- a heavyweight in the world of programme-making
- he met AFTER x factor celebrity (so not Simon Cowell)
- a very senior figure in the British television industry
- a creator of iconic TV for some of the biggest stars
- casting a pilot for a big new show for a major British broadcaster with an A-list lead star
- Speaks in a sort of 'young'\colloquial way “Hey man XXXX here,” opens the TV executive, who Byline Times is not naming today for legal reasons but whose identity is known to the police. “Good to meet man… need some good looking lads who are fresh and new. Can I ask a couple of questions?”
– he refers to the male sexual appendage 68 times, including increasingly personal requests for specific details of Levi’s. (not sure if this is a scammy bit or whether the exec is gay and getting off on it)
- is gay ( the man is openly gay – a fact well known to his family and in his private and professional lives )
- Filming something in June 2020 ( and I am filming next week...)

Predators in the public eye don’t approach their prey so blatantly and at first meet, over whatsapp. Far too risky and there are avenues to go down to begin grooming someone. Such as seeming legit and organising a first meeting via managers.
Levi was so vulnerable that he didn’t see this obvious catfish trying his luck for what it was.
Levi suffered badly with mental illness, maybe this episode with the whatsapp pervert, if it happened, triggered the gangstalking delusions or if not it certainly wouldn’t have helped.

It was a bit ominous his discarded passport was found. Because he has had depression I was hoping he had 'just' wanted some time out but it's been a while now and there don't appear to be many reported sightings.

This tragedy is so sad. Conspiracy theories stemming from things being taken out of the context of Levi’s state of mind would be very hard on his family.
