Whatever has happened in this case it has truly exposed the lack of accountability in child safety here in Ireland. How was this child taken out of school and no follow up done, it is not good enough for someone to claim that the child is now in a school in another jurisdiction, a policy must be put into place to follow that up, surely any new school would need information on the child now attending, reports on academic ability, any additional educational support they may need, if they are a shy or outgoing kid to help them settle somewhere new, any safeguarding concerns a school may have about the parent or guardian?
The grandmother only reported this little boy missing as Tusla advised her they were going to report it to the gardai, why would Tusla give the grandmother a heads up about what was going to be happen and allow her time to craft her version of events first?
Then we have the gardai issuing a statement that they couldn't contact the school to confirm when the child stopped attending? I mean it's a school, a brick and mortar building staffed Monday to Friday, just drive down to the place and insist on speaking to someone? Schools are not know for standing up and walking about the last time I looked.
Kyran has been failed at every turn by people who should have acted with urgency to protect him or at least find out what happened to him.
