Wee initials? It’s an acronym. Read the full thread 🤣 are you paranoid??

rangers was mentioned the previous page by kneecap. There has been plenty of conversations here, and on the linked NI threads about whether sectarianism is still alive in 2025, and whether kneecap have any skin in the game when talking about sectarianism, the troubles etc. the display from rangers was the most recent evidence that hate is still alive, hence linked and posted.

i genuinely can’t believe that needed explaining. So ill assume you didn’t RTFT, rather than you being purposefully provocative.

anyway; the thread is about kneecap as you and I have both said so why don’t you post an opinion on them? 🙃
Why did you not just say that then 🤷‍♂️

I’ve seen right through Kneecap’s intentions for some time now and am happy their true colours are (finally) being exposed. Many on the left were dressing their act up as a bit of craic and turning the negatively of the Troubles on its head. But really, their act is tribalistic, baiting of the Unionist community in Northern Ireland and using the same language/provocations that the IRA would’ve used.

No issue with them having an opinion on the Israel/Palestine situation (I disagree with what they say, but it is free speech after all). However, their support for Hamas and Hezbollah deserves to be called out, while some of the footage of them encouraging the murder of British MPs is a disgrace. Somehow, their wee cult following of simpletons see nothing wrong in their violent rhetoric.

I did also see stuff yesterday about Celtic fans being told to take their 🇵🇸 flags down, while the flag of Israel was permitted on the Rangers side. Which does feed into what this thread is all about (ie Kneecap being smeared and branded as 'terrorist supporters' in an attempt to suppress their vocal support for Palestine and their calls for an end to the genocide).
Tbf I did see a guy being told to take down an Israel flag, and I could see plenty Palestine ones being flown. I think he was attaching it to something to face the Celtic fans so perhaps that was the issue?

oh no! Why?
Im trying to word this carefully 😅
I think every city has got people in it who think they’re the ‘local celebrity’ and who go running to the news, Facebook groups etc to make sure their name is ‘out there’ all the time.

(As an aside, I really like kneecap and don’t like the bbc, but I don’t think the beebs decision not to show them live at Glastonbury was at all politically motivated. You just can’t be showing swearing on tv in the middle of the afternoon 😅)

Very few public figures talking about it? Are you sure?
on my social media it’s a bombardment of death statistics, images of death and reports of bombings. I don’t think they’re the only ones talking about it - I actually think between rolling, 24hr News and constant sharing of information and misinformation on social media, people are becoming desensitised to it. When I say it, I mean atrocities in general; Israel/Palestine conflict, Russia/Ukraine war included.

People are reducing this to soundbites and digestible instagram length clips which are one sided (regardless of which side that is). Sure, Kneecap and others are talking about current events and politics, but musicians for decades and centuries before them have done the same. Look to Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, blues music, Joan Baez, The Byrds as examples.
For example, the Vietnam war and the killings there were the inspiration and subject of so many songs, albums, books and films.

None of them needed to use hyperbole in the way of a terrorist flag to make their point and none of them had access to social media platforms and still got their points across articulately.

Kneecap are cashing in on a current trend IMO. I’m not saying they don’t have a conscience; they probably have no more or less of a moral conscience or compass than you or I. They’re making a hella lot of money from spouting their views and waving terrorist flags then when they’re called to account for it, they deflect back to death counts in Gaza rather than apologising for saying MPs should be murdered.
You mention protest songs back in the 60’s and 70’s. Things were more subtle and nuanced then. These days with so many channels serving millions of people, nuance has gone out of the window. The poetry has gone. Now it’s more about using a sledgehammer to break a walnut.

I thought the Israeli embassy in Ireland was closed?
so it has
I saw a photo of it being open a few weeks ago as doing a bit of spying on a doctor who works for a hospital in London he knows the Israeli ambassador personally so he says with his arm around her.

I’m not sure what it is you’re trying to say as you’ve hinted at something with the flag a few times and have never fully explained

I suspect for many zionists the flag will have always been a sign of resistance or oppression depending on the circumstances. Not that much difference now for them I reckon

If it’s more that Hamas has “overtaken” the flag then I find that a bit silly. I don’t look at the flag and think of terrorists, I think of the people suffering. If you’re a Zionist then I very much suspect that it’s just the above again and not much has changed

Really both oppression and resistance will be used to bend the international law to justify their actions anyway so I don’t know if that difference is that big
I’m not a Zionist and I can see the change. Once you oppress / murder your own people (as a form of control ) public perception changes, your flag takes on a different meaning .

It was always a flag of resistance its just not something we had to recognise in the west because we could live in our little bubbles of ignorance
Not particularly ! It’s been weaponised against those suffering to something more hostile, from oppression to resistance.

Hes acting like we're all sound with what Netanyahu is up to.

Personally I wouldn't support Netanyahu being allowed to play Glastonbury.

You don't get to say "kill your local MP" and then try to claim you have the higher moral ground. As far as I know Jo Cox's husband doesn't have a pro-Israel agenda to prevent them from speaking about Gaza, hes said how damaging what they said was and called out their non apology.

They've wrecked what they claim they were trying to achieve which was bringing attention to the genocide in Gaza by claiming support of terrorist groups and calling for violence.
They’re claiming “ bad actors “ are to blame? I’d like to see the full context of what they were referring too.

They're resisting their own extermination, and if that doesn't 'sit right' with certain people, it says more about them than it does about the Palestinians.
Obviously it won’t ! the gun never solved anything ( that goes for all sides) .

How do you feel about their support for the IRA ? Do British people agree with it?
I have no strong opinions on it because I don’t feel like I know enough about their stance 🤷‍♀️

As I said previously I see them more as a band that values certain issues and I personally only identify with one of those issues so I will focus primarily on one of those issues. Though honestly I don’t even care enough about the band themselves and I’m just here because of the headlines lol

I don't like some of the placards I've seen in protests outside unis. It's intimidating and hostile for Jewish students. Thinking this doesn't mean I'm in favour of dying babies and slaughtered civilians.
There’s nothing to say the couple killed were in favour of Netanyahu’s regime ? You can’t just ditch your nationality 🤷🏼‍♀️

Because the Brits would have levelled the place with everyone trapped there, like in Gaza?
No! We bombed our towns believe it or not . I’m glad someone saw sense and took the olive branch ,even though traitor isn’t a great label to have . We still have hardliners but they’re in a minority now and shunned by most.

I don't think it's relevant at all to the thread.

The thread is about Kneecap, a band who encouraged people to 'kill a tory' and their support for terrorist organisations.

It has absolutely nothing to do with Rangers/Rangers fans and the display yesterday was nothing to do with Palestine or Kneecap. But if posters wanted to go down that road I was happy to highlight the inconsistencies in what they were saying.
No let’s have it right you just wanted to post some whataboutery.
Because I didn’t say “rangers won’t get pulled up on it but if it was Celtic they would have been” or something similar. So there weren’t any inconsistencies to point out.
