Im no fan of Janet and have been very critical of her in the past.

Criticising the absolutely heinous genocidal actions of Israel is not anti semitism. They have gone out of their way to kill civilians. People are not stupid. We can all see it.

I’m not saying her criticism of Israel’s actions is antisemitism, it’s absolutely warrant. But her comment “zionists are not welcome on my trips” is antisemitic, ignorant and misplaced. There are many zionists who are speaking out against the atrocities being committed by Netanyahu, laying the responsibility of disgusting government policy at the feet of the entire faction of Zionism is tone deaf, dangerous and pathetic. Particularly when the stories either side of this slur are self promotion of how wonderful a humanitarian Janet is. Well then conduct yourself in a way that reflects what you’re saying. For someone who has been exposed to not dissimilar situations in Iraq and Syria you’d think she’d conduct herself in a more appropriate manner.

I also am not a fan of Janet but she and her comments aren't anti semitic. Some Zionists may speak out against the IDF but they still believe the state of Israel takes precedence over the Palestinians who had been there for hundreds of years. Janet has always spoken out in support of Palestinians and has raised huge sums of money to support refugee programmes.

Mmmk so your opinion is that the comment “zionists aren’t welcome on my trips” isn’t antisemitic? Let’s call a spade a spade, it is antisemitism. Maybe she’s a proud antisemitist, I don’t know, but her comment is what it is. Let’s replace the word Zionist with Christian, Black, Chinese, Muslim…. Is her comment inflammatory? Yeah… it’s just your prejudice clouding your interpretation of her comment?
Imagine you’re a 30 yo female who loves to travel (her target trip audience) whos family raised her with the core belief that all Jews constitute one nation, you put no weight in this view nor do you have any investment in the ongoing ethnic clensing, in fact you’ve been petitioning for an end to the atrocities in Gaza, but you’re a Zionist, much like Irish are catholics, now all of a sudden you’re not welcome on Janet’s Journey. But you know a girl, she’s American 30 years old, grandparents were Irish, but with a fundamental belief in American government policy of unconditional weapons sales and military aid to Israel. She’s welcome to hang out with Janet because she isn’t a Zionist.

Anyway, we’re straying from the point. The girl needs to do better, maybe it was an accidental slur, maybe she genuinely does not want to engage with Zionists irrespective of their beliefs or upbringing. I’m just calling her out on it.

Zionist is not the same as being Christian, Muslim, Black etc A lot of Jewish people are anti zionist. Being anti zionist is not anti semetic. A zionist believes in the state of Israel as a homeland for all Jewish people. The same land that the Palestinians lived on before being turfed out and their homes given to people, including in the present day to young westerners. It's not a slur to say you wouldn't want a zionist on a trip, i personally wouldnt want to spend time with one so for once I agree with Janet.

But I'm guessing you are a zionist as youre super defensive and touché about Israel and Zionism so we'll have to disagree.

Pink Banana you are wrong and clearly singing from the nonsensical Israeli playbook.

They spin, act the victim and point fingers shouting "anti semitism" when there is any slight justifiable criticism of their actions. Sadly this behaviour is having a real impact on decent Jewish people.

I for one am sick of it.

Yes, you'd think so. Seems daft seeing as she's never actually in bali .. I presume she'll pay someone a pittance to work there while she swans around the globe

Im guessing she's looking at a tour similar to her Iraq ones. Irish people don't need official guides and most of her customers appear to be irish women. Wonder whose looking after the shop when she's away 😂

An american was on an offical trip there the college student was imprisoned on a charge of subversive behaviour. In June 2017, he was released by North Korea in a vegetative state. He was convicted of attempting to steal a propaganda poster from his hotel he died in America with his parents. You can't film anything without strict approval in only specific places. Obviously loads more to the story like they beat him to near death and said that he was grand when flying him back to America I don't think he ever regained consciousness to speak.

Yes, that story stuck in my head, you can only imagine what happened to that poor man. I'd never risk it myself and i doubt we'll see much or any of her trip , even when she returns! Be interesting to see what she says about it all the same.

I know a few people who have been to N. Korea, it is not a big deal they just bring you on a tour which is obviously mostly propaganda. You are not allowed to travel there without being on a tour. Americans are disliked obviously so I would not go there as an American. I considered going there myself whilst I was in China as it isconvenient to go from there geogrphically and while you have a Chinese visa to enter via China but decided against it. It is costly enough and obviously you do not get to see what N. Korea is really like so I did not think it was worth the money. She is probably just going for the views. Also I am just reading now that only Rason Special Economic zone in the far north is the only place you can visit nowadays. If that is correct I do not know why you would bother... apart from views I guess.
