iPhone 12 mini - help!

I’m probably being really stupid but I can’t work out how I can play my Spotify whilst using my apps. Basically when I use my workout app, the second the app counts down or says anything, the music stops! I’ve tried googling it but can’t seem resolve the issue.
does anyone know how to sort it as its so annoying (first world problems, I know!)

Are you using the free version of Spotify? I have the free one and it stops if I try to do anything else on my phone, my husband pays for his and he can leave his on in the background while he has other pages open. We have samsung , not iPhone

I had this with Facebook, I had to change my Facebook settings to stop automatically playing videos. Does the app have any settings like that? I do have premium Spotify so not sure if that helps.
