I think it is reason to celebrate... however, I feel influencers are doing absolutely nothing for female empowerment. If anything, they’re setting us back. I’m not sure how posting overly sexualised images of themselves that have been edited to completely unrealistic and unattainable levels can be empowering anybody! It was once the Hugh Hefner’s of the world that objectified women, and now it’s the influencers/clothing brands etc
It’s like when you see girl bands like Little Mix for example, performing on stage with their bits hanging out and full side fan on show! And they say it’s to empower women. When actually, women would just like to be equal to men, and we don’t see male singers dressed like that on stage... so please just perform fully clothed and let people appreciate you for your talent! That would be far more helpful to the movement!
Drives me crazy!!!
I'm less concerned about influencers and more concerned about the inclusion of women who aren't women being given a platform.
