Has anyone done IF? I'm on day 10 and absolutely loving it. I am doing 16:8. I'm currently WFH so eat breakfast at 11am, fruit or naked noodles around 2.30pm. Dinner is at 6pm with lots of water during the day.

My stomach is less bloated, I'm eating less but feel better for it.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing in terms of the food I eat, but so far so good and I lost 3lbs in my first week.

Well done!

I have a friend who has started on a routine about three months ago of drinking Vita Diet shakes twice a day (breakfast and dinner) and having grilled salmon or chicken with greens for lunch ... and copious amounts of water throughout the day. She has lost just over 10kg in that time and looks really good. She said the secret for her is to eat between 11am and 5pm.

I know of someone else who, at around the same time as my friend, started adhering to a super-strict diet for five days out of every week, then on weekends eating whatever he likes. He has lost a bit of weight but my friend's loss is far more noticeable. I wonder how healthy this guy's approach is ... I think it would be better to stick to the super-strict diet, but allow yourself a treat upon reaching a milestone (such as a cube of dark chocolate hen you've lost 5kg or something).

I did Jenny Craig years ago (very successfully); the true secret with that is portion control. You did have special food, yes, but nothing you couldn't replicate by shopping from the supermarket yourself. Plus, they gave you a little bit of everything - including chocolate mousse desserts - so you never felt deprived (just hungry - LOL!).

Nope, just seems pointless to me. Calorie deficit is the only thing that ensures weightloss - theoretically I suppose its easier to eat less in a smaller restricted time.

You will loose weight if you are in a calorie deficit.. if you are the same amount as before you restricted your eating times you will stay the same, if you eat less and put yourself into a calorie deficit you will loose weight. Have you calculated your calorie intake for weight loss and what you are consuming?

No, I've not calculated calories. May start after Christmas. At the moment, life is really busy and stressful.

I second looking at Delay Don't Deny by Gin Stephens, it has been life changing for me. Also look for Dr Jason Fung on You Tube

I've been doing it almost 2 years now. Started accidentally because of work and life but it's helpful.
I managed to lose 2 stone I'd gained whilst being depressed and finally kept a stable weight for around a year and a half.

Started with a deficit since I was so busy, about 900 calories a day but I don't recommend that! It's too low imo but it worked.
Now I just eat what I need to maintain, try not to get carried away counting calories.

I am doing 16:8, eating between 10 and 6pm. Eating healthy also and no booze. 6 lbs down in week 1, I know it will slow down after this.

Yep doing 16:8 too - I know calorie deficit is the way forward but feeling hungry and not bloated when I eat at 12 really keeps me going and makes me feel like my body is ready for a meal instead of eating for the sake of it. I also find it helps to keep my calorie intake down throughout the day as I tend to eat at 12 then eat again at 5-6 and then no more until 12 the next day and don’t feel starving hungry.

How is everyone doing? O am currently doing 21:3 aiming to be properly OMAD within a couple of weeks. Had great success on this last year but covid home working and home schooling got in the way!! Was easy to fall back in to and seeing results really quickly.

I've started doing this, not for weight loss but because a book I am reading talked about it. The book is about "ageing as a disease" and spoke briefly about he beneficial it is to the body. I've started off doing the 14-10. I found the first two days very easy, today not so much because I woke up starving but I also ate later in the evening the day before. Would love to eventually do a 24 hour fast. I like the apps that tell you about what is happening to your body.

Autophagy is the process of healing from within which is one of the benefits of IF, in fact weight loss is seen as a side effect of IF. I feel amazing when I do IF, I remember when I first started I felt a bit weird and it took a while to realise that for the first time in years I wasn't tired!

I don’t do it on purpose but I do it naturally I think. I never have breakfast. Eat at 12.30 and 18.30 then don’t eat again till 12.30 the next day. It keeps my weight stable. Don’t get me wrong, I have a treat sometimes but that’s what a typical day looks like for me..

Well done all. I am still doing 16:8 and this suits me.
I've not weighed myself, however my stomach feels less bloated, I'm not tired despite sleeping 4 hours last night. I usually do 11 to to 7pm. Yesterday I realised it was 12pm by the time I ate.

I am the same, I don't think I will have breakfast again especially as I used to have breakfast as soon as I got up.

Thing I found with breakfast is that I’m still hungry by lunchtime whether I have it or not! Thought I might as well save myself the extra calories..

When I first did IF I would only have evening meals, it worked out well as I was at work all day and was too lazy to go to the shop at lunchtime. However., now WFH and have fallen into a 9:30 to 12:30 window much to my surprise but its going really well. The thing I love about IF though is i can always move or extend my window if I fancy an evening meal or drink. I just make sure the fast is minimum 16 hours.

Bumping this up as I’m interested in IF. How did you chose the time frames and what do you typically eat in a day?

So you fast for 16 hours and eat in an 8 hour window? Is it hard the first few days? Can you drink outside your 8 hour window? Do you calorie count at the same time?

I used to do this and I am going to start again next week, I eat between 7.30 and 3.30 though, I need to eat in the morning otherwise I feel ill. I am not bothered about evening meals so it works for me.
