OK so as I mentioned in the other thread I am sure that Imogen is or has been involved in some kind of escorting or could be a sugar daddy. I’ve been trying to think of how to put it without dobbing other people in it and mentioning names because I don’t think that’s fair.

But first of all she is very good friends with a girl I know who around 10 years ago was an escort. She made a shit load of money was always jetting off on private jets, head to toe in designer gear, you know all the obvious stuff but it was common knowledge anyway. I found the fact they even knew each other a bit strange but they were always together. I dont know if this particular girl has retired from the game now but she will tell you the same story like she made her money from property or her fashion business.

She’s now friends with a further 2 girls who same story; all over Instagram with the obvious lifestyle when seemingly they only have ‘normal jobs’ one I’ve been told is definitely an escort the other not sure might be a sugar daddy but no way she could afford to live where she does and have the lifestyle she has only on the job she claims to have. Again it seems like an unlikely friendship and she’s not friends with any of their normal circle of friends

I’ve never followed Imogen so I don’t know really know what she gets up to on Instagram or what she portrays but just know via seeing her out with these girls and on their instagrams.

I never get why threads to spill gossip always have several irrelevant comments about someone's finances, looks or their body count.

I think it’s important and interesting to call out these people on what they say they earn. Young people are believing they can live vapid, pointless lives and become millionaires yet it’s rarely true, it’s always smoke and mirrors. For example, if you have a look at Gemma Collins on companies house, she pushes all her tv work, her instagram, promotional stuff etc through one company in her name so she can avoid tax. Which means I can look it up and see that she actually earned 50k last year, and her “million pahnd” clothes brand made 10k in profit.

I was wondering about that as I thought surely she drives with having kids but I always see her walking whenever I watch her insta. Thanks for letting me know. So she has a range rover, a cleaner, an au pair, nice house in central London, about 10 holidays a year but runs a failing bikini-selling insta boutique bet that swimwear company was only set up so she could bank her escorting money and have a cover story with the hope it might actually take off.

I’ve just realised I follow her baby daddy. He is friends with some dodgy people I know, a particular group of lads who have questionable careers that are always off to Dubai and Vegas, who wear chav clothes and Louis Vuitton man bags posing with their G-wagons . I am fascinated by what these people really earn. Sod all is my guess.

Anyone with a camera phone and no other discernible skills can set themselves up as a wannabe influencer. Supply far outstrips demand. Advertisers don’t have to pay much: there are gangs of people queuing up to feature their merchandise in exchange for vague promises about future collaborations.

Boohoo.com (which incorporates Pretty Little Thing and Nasty Gal, and bought the Karen Millen, Coast, Warehouse and Oasis brands) just posted a massive profit rise for its first quarter. Despite the virus and despite influencers not being able to go out and about in its gear. Does that business particularly need influencers? I’d say not. The influencers need them more. They could choose from thousands. Why would they do more than give a selected few a couple of free outfits? Advertising doesn’t get much cheaper than that.

There are a myriad of aspiring influencers for everything: parenting, decor, cleaning, make up, clothes. I’d be amazed if more than about fifteen ‘influencers’ in the UK were making a living from it. And yet, the wannabes keep on coming, probably because the barriers to entry are low.

Realistically, what does Imogen Thomas bring to market? A stint on Big Brother years ago. A seedy affair with Ryan Giggs, also years ago. Having children. Having been Miss Wales years ago. What’s down for her really? I think it’s rather sad. It’s an example to show to anyone whose career plan is ‘being a celebrity’: here’s where you end up. Desperately trying to attract the attention of brands who might pay you a pittance to photograph yourself using them, IF you have enough followers and IF you can shout louder and be shinier than all the other people doing the same thing. She’s relatively lucky because her ex husband bought her a house (maybe...he might still own half of it and want the equity back when the kids leave home), but what happens for the rest of her career?

Discussing someone’s wealth (or lack of) and how they acquired it, is in my eyes ‘relevant’ gossip when you’re in the public eye. There’s similar properties sold on there in the past year in Wandsworth for under 800k, the DM has all the photos, front room looks maybe 2mx2.5m it’s a small terraced house, nothing compared to that 790k one there

Just streets away can make a hell of difference. Especially if it’s a different postcode. What I pay in rent on one side of oxford street would be a lot more on the other side of oxford street because it’s a more prestigious postcode.

The key word there is ‘several’. If she ever had enough to buy several properties outright, any decent accountant would say take that money and use it as a deposit on ten buy to let houses and spread your risk/reward ratio. A portfolio of several properties suggests she maybe had 60-100k at some point, likely makes no short term profit from the rentals, but could cash out in twenty years with some of the mortgages paid off and a chunk in increased value.
I “own several properties” as we have holiday Airbnb lets in Wales - but what that means practically is I sunk a 50k inheritance into deposits on two seaside houses a few years ago, and hopefully the mortgages will be paid off by the time I am 50 and I’ll own our main house and maybe £250k of additional property. But the rental market could continue to be decimated by covid19, a renter could squat in a property and cost me a lot of time to evict and leave £20k of damage, a roof could collapse and the tenant sue me - many, many small landlords go bankrupt every year and lose everything they have. If you have a ton of houses on buy to let you can use the others to cover the one that causes you problems, but if you only have a few then just one minor issue with one house can cause untold damage to your finances for years

I had a look through her parenting page the other day and I actually quite liked her.

I like parts of her too and can easily follow her without getting annoyed. I actually quite like Imogen, watching the ‘best of big brother’ episodes made me look her up now.
I remember reading an article in 2006, when BB and lads mags were at peak popularity, and it said magazines would pay £25k for a photo shoot with a big brother star! Imogen did a lot of those shoots so she probably made a huge amount of money that year.
