If your child (or you) were assessed for ASD or ADHD privately

I’m considering paying privately for my daughter to be assessed for ASD/ADHD as she has a lot of the traits for both. We’ve started the process through the NHS but I’m being told it could take at least 2 years. So I have a few questions if anyone did this. How much did it cost all together? What organisation did you go through? How was the process? what did it involve?
TIA

Getting diagnosed is a long process. It takes up to 2 years because it's a process involving multiple reassessments over a period of time and numerous professionals. It's not a snap decision that can be made quickly. If you've already set the wheels in motion for an NHS assessment, I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand due to time limits.

That is understandable, I know it’ll take time I just thought if it could minimise the time being on waiting lists then I’d be willing to do it. My daughter is 13 later this year and I’m struggling to get her the support she needs, a staff member at her school suggested getting a diagnosis

Heyyy

I was told 2 years for my8 year old daughter and she was referred last year. We’ve just received an appointment for an assessment via a private clinic who is now helping clear the CAMHSS backlog. When speaking to them they’ve advised a diagnosis can be made within two weeks. This should cost £1800. I’ve been fighting for this since she was in reception! I would hold out a little longer as the backlogs are starting to clear. We are in Manchester so more then likely varies on area.
Best of luck ❤

A few things to consider. Not sure how old your daughter is but I was told some places, some schools etc wont accept a private diagnosis. That was the case for us when we looked at going privately. They will still want CCDS to diagnose. We have an EHCP but still havent heard back the Complex Diagnostic Team about diagnosing. It's been 2 years :/. We live right by a centre that comes highly rated for diagnosing privately and we still decided against it. Does she have an EHCP? Preschool/School on board? X
