I think it's absolute madness he was allowed to have young female visitors in prison, given what he was convicted of. Of course he was going to try and groom them. I think woman A and woman B are as bad as him, but also think that there was a power imbalance given that he was famous, and he clearly groomed them in some ways. Not saying that as an excuse for what they did at all.

This is what I couldn’t believe, given his crimes why was he given access to anyone outside? Why was it allowed? Seeing as he went on to groom more people from inside, and another child was taken away from another mother in 2017!

Redhanded podcast did a really good in-depth episode on Watkins a few years ago, they re-released last week so it's on their recent feed if anyone is interested.
It's a tough listen, especially toward the end but I highly recommend it as they did a great job on what must have been a really awful topic to research and present.

I know it doesn’t make anything any better, but. I’m a bit more satisfied that his whole life was trash and he was hurting himself as well as others, selling himself for drugs from his mum’s spare room.
I know that’s not good, but it’s better than the idea I’d had of the rich rockstar sitting on a pile of royalties and passing the hours abusing kids.

He wasn’t a skint addict selling himself because he had no other option. It was part of his fetish and chem sex culture. Hiding away in wales in his mums house away from the band members that were in LA allowed him to live the way he pleased. He was a rich and powerful man that had enablers, women giving him their children and vulnerable teenage fans at his finger tips. His life became trash when he was shipped into HMP Wakefield that has no VP wing therefore became a victim of people just like him.

Can anyone correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the baby boy in the video meant to be IW son? There was a girl who he groomed who had a baby boy and I remember her posting photos on various forums of IW in bed with the baby. I think she was one of the women also sentenced.

That's not what I said. It is the same as in you cannot change what or whom you are attracted to. I never said being gay made anyone a rapist. I also know it's complex but we will have to agree to disagree that intervention will change anything,and as I said you cannot prove said intervention reduces risk, or reduces offending as they have to be caught doing it first !

You can’t change who you’re attracted to but you can choose whether you rape them or not. Attraction isn’t action. Many don’t realise the difference as no conversations other than ‘kill the onces’ are said which, is obviously not working. Imagine we had a system in place that assisted potential offenders that can hold their hands up and state, ‘I’m having sexual thoughts about children, I’m addicted to pornography and I’m looking at things that disturb me, I’m worried about my thoughts, I worry I'm going to offend, help me’ We don’t! ‘They have to be caught doing it first’ - but what if they don’t?

Yeah her little plan backfired. I think she thought he’d get a few years in prison, if that, then cancelled and blacklisted from his celeb status with only her to run back to. Guilt must have ate her alive knowing she was part of it all. The only reason the judge let him off the actual rape charge was because the video of him SA the baby boy didn’t show a ‘complete rape’ so they couldn’t prove it. The courts only know what happened through Watkins home made footage, which did not show the extent of the abuse - which is horrifying with what we already know.

IMO not a whisper should have got out to the press and he should be burried in the prison grounds. If you can get married / engaged in jail you can have your burial there too. Maybe he will get the Ian Brady treatment since the public outrage.

Why would you keep going back to ‘collect’ more CSA images when you have them already? Especially when you have a son of your own. She went back because she was infatuated with Watkins. The police do not need a large collection to act. In fact they didn’t initially arrest and raid him for sex offences, it was for drugs. They found the images themselves on his devices.

I don’t think it was Watkin’s son but some of the texts between the baby boy’s mum and IW refer to IW as his daddy which I think is where this came from.

It comes from her loudly telling everyone that Ian was the father from the moment she conceived, and they had been sleeping together so it’s possible but not certain he was.

I spent far too much time reading the thread on ‘who’s dated who’ where this had been discussed at length. Basically there were a group of LP fans discussing Ian’s decent into depravity for at least 3 years prior to the arrest and that girl - I think she was woman A, was well known on there. She had been loudly shouting about her and Ian’s “relationship” since she was about 15.

They also really hated Joanne, knew about the swinging sites and her reporting him repeatedly. She had even told his family and believed he might have been abusing family members but would then go back to him. So basically this was all well known in sections of the fandom for at least a couple of years prior to his arrest.

I watched a video on behind bars TV on YouTube and they said basically he was always off his head inside because he had so much money to be buying drugs in there that's all he did..and one day someone threw shit and piss all over him but he was so out of it he didn't even realize.

I think we’ve heard all there is to know, to be honest - anything salacious would have come out around the time of the trial. But I could well be wrong. I hate seeing that pic of him in jail, he looks so sinister. I’m vaguely interested in whether he ever felt any remorse in any of it, even the way he was talking to that woman they’ve reported on today makes it seem like he thought he was gods gift.

I think anyone who does what he did doesn't give a shit about anyone but themselves. There were stories about groupies visiting him that looked young (they likely weren't but played up on it for him...at least I hope so) and what's come out shows that like Glitter who was caught with the smart phone days after his release, if he did get out, he would be right back at it.

I always like to hope that all the poor little children we read about go on to have happy lives but the truth is if they are in the care system it’s unlikely

Babies are usually the most in demand for adoptive parents, so if they did end up in care after being taken away from their mothers, hopefully they would have been adopted fairly quickly, rather than being in multiple foster placements like some older children sadly face.

I really hope those children go on to have happy fulfilled lives, unfortunately, when they get to a certain age they are probably going to ask questions.

They’re not going to be able to go through life with it being avoided unfortunately as their perpetrator is their own mother. They would be teenagers now, it’s horrible to think if they do know details it must be haunting as it’s all blown up in the press since his death. He should have just been buried in the prison grounds in secret.
