Apologies if there is a post for this already. Am I the only one who hates summer. Don’t like it at the best of times but this heatwave is killing me. Our houses and bodies (I’m peri menopausal) are not built for this weather. I also have a dog and watching him struggle also doesn’t help. Counting the days to the shorter days and cooler weather!

I've loathed it since at least my early 20s.

I can't be done with that much light and noise, everyone being as obnoxious as possible (I love seeing people having fun but there's a difference), the expectation that you go out and 'enjoy it while it lasts' even if you are someone who has health issues that heat makes worse.

I hate that I've had to have my windows and door open 24/7 for a couple of weeks now. I'm a hermit! You cannot hermit in summer, arrugh.

I get summer SAD and feel so unhappy every year. I've tried to appreciate the time of year and there are good things like saving on the heat bills and nature being full of life but I get so bogged down by everything else.

I get odd comments because I don't enjoy the sun. I can't go out in it because it's a migraine trigger

The only good thing is that I'm not freezing cold. I have raynaurds and winter is hell

Much better today but it looks like it won't be until next weekend when it backs off properly. Hopefully for more than a few days/a week this time.

I get so overwhelmed with a lack of the break from the heat and the sun. AC is nice but doesn’t feel naturally cool and I end up being too cold, fans just blow warm air also having to have them on such a high speed all the time just like having wind in your face. It’s all too artificial and nothing like a normal cool feeling.

I'm so fed up of being made to feel I'm weird for not enjoying the hot weather. I've struggled since I was a kid and a change to Sertraline this year has made it much worse. I don't want to spend my day sweating, feeling sick and not able to leave the house.

Just wanted to reply to say you aren’t alone . I got put on Sertraline for the first time in my life a couple of months ago - and OMG… I’ve never sweat so much in my life (and I’ve been heavily pregnant in the peak of summer, twice!). I had no idea the tablets would have such an effect on me being able to regulate my body temperature. It’s not only uncomfortable, but also very embarrassing. Sending big hugs to you. Roll on Christmas!!!!!! X

I'm a redhead so any sort of huge heat turns me into a puddle of ash. Was away on holidays and sought shade at every chance, lashed on the factor 50 and wore a big floppy hat, my teenagers wouldn't stand near me Got home this weekend and sat in my garden, under an umbrella and got burnt

Plus I'm mid 40s, perimenopausal and my patience ran away some time ago. I would like to sleep without my husband thinking my nakedness is an invitation to him being in my space, it's not.

Oh and another thing. I wish people would just wash themselves. I'm not talking about the sweat over the day, fresh BO does not smell. Its the funky onion/rancid corpse smell I mean A wash cloth and some soap helps if you can't do the shower effort.

It's a really unfortunate side effect of SSRI's that that make you super heat sensitive, so if you already struggle with that it gets even worse.

It's cooled off here but night times are still far too warm. 18c at night isn't standard in the UK by any means. At least even though winter is cold it is much easier to just get under a duvet and feel better. It is so hard to be comfortable in any way during summer and double digit temps.

UK has a "firewave" ongoing according to Claire Belcher, director of the Wildfire Lab at the University of Exeter.

We've had a "firewave" ongoing round my way for a few days TBF.
Every fucking spring/summer stuff combusts.
Perma smell of burning come summer.

This never used to be an issue here.
The Moorland here hasn't recovered from last years yet. That was right on my doorstep.

Feels like there's a mini "Santa Ana wind" going on ATM too which wont't be helping matters.
"The new normal"- I don't disagree but it's still irritating when smug types repeatedly parrot it with a pompus,knowing look.

I'm considering buying a camel for transport.

RE smelly people-They reek come rain or shine. The "onion" smell is a new development I've not yet had the pleasure to experience though.

I detest the Summer. My dad would say every bloody year what are you doing inside on a day like this. He just couldn’t get it in his head that I was inside because if was ‘a day like this’.

Roll on cosy, cold wrap up in a jumper weather.

Yes!!! As a kid I stayed indoors watching TV. I loved Going For Gold with Henry Kelly I can still remember my mum telling me to go outside to play or she'd cut the plug off the telly My siblings were older than me so I was usually home alone with Mum while the others were at work and we lived in the sticks with no close by neighbours

I don't really hate summer, I hate prolonged heatwaves though. Anything about 28° is too hot.
