Dexamethasone is a steriod which is well used in cancer patients. I see that you mentioned that he is severely overweight and a few have mentioned treatment plans. It would cross my mind that altho the tumour may be benign they may just be monitoring him for now and managing his symptoms. He may not be able for treatment due to his weight and if they have offered him a treatment plan, he may have turned this down. Some people are offered treatment plans for cancer and turn it down. I didn’t know this was a thing until I had cancer myself.
What I would say is, being told you have a tumour, whether benign or not is a life changing thing and will leave you feeling very vulnerable and full of uncertainty. I would put some boundaries in place, but I would give a fools pardon with regards to some of his statements, he is probably not in the right frame of mind and doesn’t realise how they are coming across. You can have all the support in the world but still feel very alone.
