I have to share this, i heard the sentence when I went to the shop at lunch, 6 months suspended… Its not enough. my abuse in the 80s and 90s was filmed, and it destroyed my life, it impacted everything. I had no choice in that, I was a child. HE had every choice, every moment to do the right thing, report the abuse, get help. He chose not too. The sentence, and most sentences for abuse of children, are a joke. I might be living and breathing but the abuse murdered my soul, my innocence. It stole my life. Viewing images of child abuse is not a small crime, it is one cog in the whole machine that keeps turning and children keep getting abused.

Depression just does not cause horniness. The opposite for a lot of people. It also doesn't make you attracted to children if you weren't before.

And of course if he was suffering to that degree, to where he was being destructive in any way, he should have sought treatment.

I am so over abusive men blaming their mental health.

Really happy that we’ve managed to find a woman to blame for all this. I was feeling very distressed that there hadn’t been any opportunity for misogyny in this case.

7 years on the sex offenders register? I don't think there should be a limit for any sexual offenders, if you are on the register, you stay on the register for life.

I think as a society we really need to sort out how and why we have become so hyperfocused on mental health. For every genuine sufferer, there are 1000 using it as an excuse for their generally shit behaviour. Everyone gets anxious, stressed, worried, feels that they can't cope at times - they are normal feelings and emotions, yet we're making people feel like they're made of glass because of it and allowing them to opt out of society and normal conventions because of it. We're even passing this down to our kids and letting them opt out of school because of normal worry.

I'm hugely angered that people like Huw and Katie Price can use this as excuse after excuse for criminal behaviour and get away with it. Something has to change.

As someone who has suffered a breakdown and periods of deep depression I get really angry when he uses depression as an excuse. Never once have I behaved the same as him despite mental health issues.

The court hears he has denied having a sexual interest in children and there is a tangible risk he may attempt suicide.

Another report details Edwards' upbringing and family life, adding he has shown "insight, shame and remorse" and would be "exceptionally vulnerable" in prison.

Oh FUCK OFF. He looked at child sexual abuse by choice, ofcourse he has a sexual interest in children and who the fuck cares if he is vulnerable in prison or might kill himself?

YOU KNOW WHO IS VULNERABLE, THE CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ABUSED FOR HIS PLEASURE

stop this world I want fucking off

Mental health is used as a get out for everything now. I'm sick of it. Most people have mental health issues because guess what, life's fucking hard and most of the time, doesn't go the way you want. Most of us live lives that aren't 'natural', even something as basic and commonplace as work - we aren't supposed to be doing that and it takes a toll. Unhealthy lifestyles, bad quality food, air etc. We are all struggling and that comes out as stress, anxiety, depression, it's the norm now not the exception. Everyone claims to have ADHD, Autism etc when the reality is, few have these things to a clinical standard and instead, we are all on a spectrum of traits we share in common. So these things become excuses for behaviour when actually, that category should be reserved for people who literally cannot function and need constant support because of it, e.g. non verbal etc. Not liking to speak to someone on the phone or getting nervous with public speaking does not give you a get out of jail free card because of 'mental health' it's just fucking being human in an unfit world. Unless someone does not have control of their faculties or is in a state of psychosis to do with their mental health, it should not come into play at all as far as I'm concerned and a suicide risk due to the consequences of your own behaviour MOST CERTAINLY NOT.

On another note, something that's really fucked me off and tells me more about the world we live in. I posted my disgust about the whole thing on socials and not a single person commented or reacted, even the people who react to every single post I ever make. And why is that? Because my graphic wording has made them uncomfy. How can we ever expect anything to improve if everyone is too weak and coy to make a scene? Is it hard to read about a 7 year old being sexually abused for a pensioners pleasure? Of fucking course it is AND SO IT SHOULD BE! The fact it makes you so uncomfortable shows you how wrong it is and how we all need to start using our voices because brushing it under the carpet because it's unsavoury is exactly why this sort of behaviour goes unpunished. As Brits we are spineless and it's time that changed.

It's because they're men. These men are everywhere.
Men are everything that’s wrong with the world, and yes I know they’re not all like that before anyone starts. But far too many of them are and they hide behind their privilege.

I see his wife filed for divorce today.

What took her so long???? Clinging onto the gravy train that was her husbands BBC salary for a bit longer???

She knew about his dirty little secrets and covered up.......disgraceful!
I don’t think any of this is her fault or that she covered up for him.
I think she was brave fronting it up by naming him initially so other people’s names could stop being dragged into it.
I think it says a lot that there haven’t been loads of leaks from her or an interview looking for sympathy and that the papers for the most part have left her alone as well. No pap walks looking sad like so many other wives would do in her position.
She’s being quite dignified and cracking in with her life in my opinion.

He apparently was/is suffered very bad mental health issues....yet at the very same time he was able to present high profile events such as elections and the late Queen's death.

*Quote The court heard that a “restricted, puritanical but often hypocritical background of growing up in a particular cultural milieu of south Wales with a father who was highly regarded and lauded outside the family, but was perceived as behaving monstrously within the family, created both an enduring cognitive dissonance and low self-esteem”.

This had been “compounded by a sense of being inferior by not getting into Oxford and going to Cardiff instead, and being therefore something of an outsider at the BBC”, it was said.

Okay for the first sentence, but the second about "not getting into Oxford, therefore being an outsider at the BBC" he's taking the piss and so is the judge if this was taken into consideration for sentencing!

I messaged him last year when it came out he had been messaging men on Only Fans etc, when all I knew was he'd done something a bit dodgy but legal. Just said I hoped he was ok and that what happened between consenting adults was their business. I forgot all about it until someone said he was using his socials again. I went on LinkedIn and felt awful about the nice supportive message I'd sent so I retracted it for my own sake as it never occurred to me he'd be looking at it!

Anyway, I got this.

There was more conversation as I went back going "you wot?!?!" but I feel uncomfortable screenshotting the lot as ultimately this was a private conversation so this is just to prove to you I'm not lying. Also because a bit of me is taken aback that he would respond thus and stupid as it sounds I began doubting myself.

In short, the conversation reminded me of the statement given where he was 'disappointed" in his family not being supportive enough with his mental health. I can easily imagine what it was like living, and working, with him. It would be terrible. It's upsetting just thinking about.

I'm sorry, I've taken it down as I feel uncomfortable having it up there. I feel it exposes me even though I removed my name.

But for reference I had written:
"obviously I know now what you did - or rather didn't do. Shame on you for not reporting images of child sexual abuse."

He wrote back: "Bread - when you understand the gravity of severe mental disorder, prolonged hospital stays, suicide attempts, complete loss of sanity, you might - just might - be able to pass judgement. Until that time please steer clear. I was deeply grateful for your supportive comment last year."

I feel sickened by it because he has no idea what I've gone through and there's no shame in his response.

Also, no mention of the children. Not one!

This gets worse and worse every time new facts come to light.

Now it's: some of the material was videos; one was labelled as "13 year old"; HE paid hundreds of pounds for the images; his lawyer is claiming that depression made him do it?????; HE claims his depression was so bad that he doesn't even remember looking at the images.

What the fuck. This guy was right in front of our eyes this whole time.

The world is needing money spent on decent investigative journalism and documentaries. I'd rather see someone look into the failings of the BBC, all the stars that came out instantly in support of him, how mental health was weaponised to silence people and for a reason for the judge to be lenient.

No one needs a drama on this, you can read the articles.

The man that sent Huw all the cat A images got off with a suspended sentence also.

As if he's trying to fucking blame his family for not challenging him more. Bloody hell

His poor wife stepped up and made a statement to the press when he was hospitalized for his mental health and all along he was noncing, now it's her fault for not being tougher on him and intervening more forcefully? He has 100% being abusing her emotionally and mentally for years, hasn't he. I hope he never has a moments peace.
