Look for yellow stickers too. It’s surprising what can be frozen so you get longer life out of things. I found Percy pig pancakes for 10p for a pack of 4. My daughter had that for breakfast with a dollop of yoghurt and some fruit. The pancakes could be frozen so I stocked up on about 6 packets. M&S also have a sparks card where they do have free things on there occasionally. These can be used as treats I’ve had a free pack of Percy pig sweets, a free drink, a free pastry.

I know it’s tough but try to save money on things where you can. Can you change your tv package (if you have one?), reduce energy use, don’t buy prepared food (this is something I’ve changed as I was buying chopped lettuce, boxed pineapple etc - now I just buy it and chop it myself and put into bags or containers in the fridge and it saves money), shop at Aldi or Lidl, avoid branded stuff where possible (all this beanz meanz heinz thing is crap in my opinion - I used to think that way because of the advertising but now I much prefer Asda beans! I also buy own brand salad cream, mayo etc). Just a few ideas but hopefully it’ll help a bit
yup! I already buy all Tesco own food, but ive been so worried about my problems this past week I have had no appetite anyway so not too worried about food at the moment but I just feel I already have things as cheap as possible its depressing just living to survive its not enjoyable

I’ve started to do surveys online. The one is use pays between 10p-£1.50 per survey. It can be a bit boring and not massive money but this week I made enough for a takeaway and a bit over. You don’t have to wait for the money, you can with drawer it whenever you want.

I also use too good to go app, we’ve had some from M&S that have done us for 2 or 3 meals a week for about £5.
We are comfortably off but I hate spending money as Im a Worrier and always think ‘what if’ so like to keep a good amount saved.
Although when my kids were younger we had multiple credit cards, store cards etc but as you get older things become so much easier financially.

Secret shopper is another thing I used to do. I had free hotel stays, meals out, Superdrug purchases all for not much work.
funny you mentioned that I have tried that but they all seemed like a scam or a way to get ur card details ive never trusted them so never used them! but if ur saying you have used it and had no problems that interesting. how do you get into mystery shopping
and yeah ive spent almost nothing this past week as I just dread not having enough for important things its horrible wish I was rich as Money is just the Bane of my life

Hi, the secret shopper I use is called Market Force. It’s not had so many since covid but seems to be picking up again. I’ve had free five guys, meals in weatherspoons. They reimburse you and give you a small fee. Some also pay mileage. It doesn’t seem like a lot but it all adds up.

This is such a great thread! With spiralling costs I’m re-reading all of your tips and am taking notes. Thank you! I use the Aldi washing machine capsules for my laundry. They are a good bit cheaper than the big brands. To make them stretch, every second wash I use a sprinkling of good old fashion soda crystals in the dispenser drawer of the machine instead of a washing . (It was advice I got from my Mom and also from the washing machine repair man).

im just curious how people save money when they really need to as right now im going through a rough financial patch, and can barley afford anything im even taking up a weekend job to survive. how do you cut costs on food, petrol and stuff. where do you shop for food etc. that's cheap
might sound silly thing to ask but im struggling as I cant cut down on my car as that's essential, my insurance is really high as I haven't been driving long that's really affecting my financials right now but a car is essential. phone bill is also a lot but also cant change it as on a contract.

I don't know how people do it im also trying to move out too but there's no way I can save! im barley surviving..very miserable.
Hi there, your message here has really resonated with me. You might know this already…but just in case not…there are some really good tips on how to drive more economically. One I learned recently was to never drive at more than 100km per hour on the motorway, stick to just under that speed. I used love driving along at the 120km speed limit, and was horrified to hear it is really inefficient fuel-wise to do so! I hope you’re doing ok. The financial squeeze is horrible. Even though I’m in a steady job, I am only just making ends meet every month and can’t see things improving. I keep making cutbacks to my already tight budget. The cost of living is spiralling lately. But all these tips are great and are inspiring me to try a little harder to find new ways of saving.

See if I have a community shop nearby. You pay less for the food but it’s usually close to its best before date . Well anything you don’t use. Clothes especially going out clothes seem to sell well as people now don’t want to spend a lot on outfits they will only wear a couple of times. downloads Any app of shops that you use, there is often offers on them
