How often do you exercise/ How do you get motivated?

I exercise 6 days a week - usually 2 runs, 2 yoga sessions and 2 weights sessions. When the pool is open, sometimes I run to the pool & back for a swim. Occasionally or if I'm injured from running, I do something like a kickboxing or dance workout at home.

My motivation is how I feel afterwards, so most times I have to talk myself into it, but once I've done it, I feel great

Im the opposite I love doing cardio but just can’t get in on weights. I really want to start doing weights though. do you mind me asking what weight you started off lifting I don’t even know where to start with it or what I’m at
I don’t think there is any specific weight you should aim for as it can vary from person to person 😊 I think my first weights were a set of 5lb dumbells. If you look on YouTube for “beginner weight workout” there are loads of videos on there. Body coach does some and I also really like MadFit. It’s difficult obviously at the moment as gyms aren’t open but there is still stuff you can do at home.

5/6 times a week. Workout time is ‘me’ time! I usually run for half hour/ try and do a 5k most evenings, but as much fun as cardio in getting bored. We’ve started the 30 day shred again which is good! 20 mins and works a lot into it. Straight into level 2 as I’ve got an ok level of fitness.

I always hate the idea of working out but I always feel better in mind and body after, so I often force myself too. Bought a treadmill specifically just before lockdown 1

You need to find a starting weight for everything that doesn't compromise form. It could even be a case of working with a broom handle to get used to movement patterns at the start before adding weight (depending on what sort of weight lifting you're going to be doing).

Yeah, I started off with 2-3lb dumbbells to get used to weights and making sure my form was good. Surprisingly, if you do a lot of movements with them and are focusing on the muscle properly, they can start to feel quite heavy.

I am such a sendetary person, I hate exercise and the last time I lost a lot of weight was when I was walking to and from work before I met my partner five years ago and then I went up three dress sizes and hate my body now.
My main motivation to lose weight now is for my wedding as I don't want to look back at my photos and see my awful double chin and chunky arms 😭
I loved swimming when I was younger and was planning on taking it back up before Covid hit last year.
During my furlough I went on the exercise bike a lot and went for a few longer bike rides, but with winter and being back working I don't have the motivation.
Instead me and my partner go for a brisk walk every day during our lunch break, and then I try and do a long walk on the weekend as well. When we're able to again I'm definitely going to start swimming.
im same ..i dont particularly enjoy exercise or the gym but i do enjoy walking and swimming...i just cant motivate myself to even go for a walk as its so damp grey and cold 🥶☹ least December was cold but sunny and bright ! ive barely left the house this year.
Im lucky enough to go to a gym with an outdoor pool and once it opened again in july i went every other day. i even swim in the outdoor pool in winter..its great as its heated and normally you get it to yourself as people dont like to go out into the cold to get in it.
i cant waitnfor it to open again.

Normally, 5 to 6 days per week. Love a bit of heavy lifting and cardio bores me to death. Exercise keeps me sane (and my husband 😂).

I mentioned this over in the covid thread earlier so sorry if you’re reading this twice. I’m mega mega overweight but have found that I’m making myself do 60 mins of exercise daily is having such a big impact: oh my mood, sleeping, skin condition and my body as I can notice I’m losing weight round my gut and getting some definition back to my legs.

As I’m big I’m just focusing on doing 10,000 steps daily minimum so I’ll pop on music videos and step away, jog, use my step board and follow step classes, dance (can burn a lot of calories grooving - more than I thought!) I’m working on building some dumbbells in when I’m stepping/dancing. Also trying to add in some stretches / yoga. Bought a decent thickness exercise mat and loving it.

I’m the same - don’t think I’ll pay for a gym again. Finding it easier to stay consistent at home. My Fitbit keeps me tracked and motivated.

I am just starting out and I'm quite overweight and have found 'team body project' on YouTube a godsend. I am really enjoying their workouts and they have really basic ones for beginners too if you wanted more choice.

Dancing is amazing for the mood and getting the steps In

6 days per week, usually HIIT/weights/pilates. On the other day I either go for a walk, on the Pelaton or Ring Fit for the Nintendo Switch. I follow a variety of Youtube videos from LWRFitness, Blogilates, Pamela Reif, Chloe Ting and MadFit for my HIIT! My workouts last around 30-35 mins but my advice is that what you eat is more important than exercise! You will get to your desired goal faster focusing on food rather than exercise!
