How much do you pay for your hair?

I pay £30 for a cut and colour at the Salon I was a employed with before I stopped being a stylist. I feel guilty for paying that as thats roughly the price of a cut and blow!

Feeling very lucky after reading this, my brother is a hairdresser and refuses to take my money (I’ve left cash at the salon and it’s been given to my parents to give back to me!) usually full head highlights, treatment, cut and blow dry every 8 weeks or so. Am waiting a while so he can earn some cash before getting mine done again.

This is slightly off topic, but I didn’t want to start a new thread. I hate getting my haircut with a passion. I never know what I want done other than I want it to look nice. I hate the chit chat. I hate how much time it takes.

The thing I hate most is the ‘how do you want it blow dried?’ question. I have long hair. I have no idea what I should say here?! What are my options? Can anyone advise please? I usually just say straight. Am I missing out on a world of fancy blow dry options?!

Oh my god I hate that question - or they ask how I’d like it styled, I guess they mean straight or curly. I always just say not to bother... I’m usually only gonna stick it back up in a bun to walk home and my hair never holds any sort of curl/wave anyway.

Yep I’m the same. Back in a bun until the next time it needs cutting 😂

Agree with this especially if you’ve got long hair and usually wear it straight, it’s quite difficult to perfect at home so will hopefully be a nice change. I’m sure you will love it but if you hate it it’s not the end of the world you just wash it x

I have never been able to find a hairdresser that I trust enough, to keep going back to.
I used to go to some of the salons they have at college campus's, to have my hair cut by first and second year students. I was mostly pleased with the results.
The last hair cut that I had, was a dry cut, I paid £28 for it. It was a dry cut for crying out loud!

I never like how it’s blow dried at the hairdressers, ever! I have medium/short hair. I always have to wash it at home after having it “done”, after removing the strong-smelling product and all the hair specks from my face; then wash and dry it properly to add a with a decent amount of root lift and volume. (It doesn’t have to be full-on 80s’ US TV anchor-lady fullness, just not flat on my head!)

This is an interesting thread, the whole experience of the hairdressers and the history etc.

Thank you both for the advice! I will have to give this a go next time x

£90 for hair extensions maintenance every 12ish weeks plus £80 every 8 weeks to cover my greys. I get a new set of hair extensions every 18 months or so which costs around £400.

£50 haircut/blow-dry & paid £125 for balayage which included olaplex, toner, wash/blow-dry. I won’t need it doing again for months and I can go a while for a trim, so next time I’ll go will probably be before Christmas. I have a full fringe and have it trimmed for free every 4-6 weeks.

Between £100-120 once a year.

I grow my hair out till its so long I can sit on it, and go to the hairdresser once a year and get the full works - wash, cut, balayage, toner, olaplex, curled..

I like my long hair but when I get sick of it I get it all cut off to my shoulders

I used to pay £60-80 a time for just a blunt haircut to my collarbones. I did it myself a few weeks ago with some beard trimmers and it looks the same, I’m never going back 😂

I pay £15 for just a hair cut, and £20 if there is a blow dry. Do it every 3-6 months, depending on my mood.

My friend is a hairdresser so I pay less for my highlights. I just have bleach fouls so nothing intricate But since I was about 16/17 I’ve not let a hairdresser cut my hair.. (I’m now 30..) I’ve cut my own since then. I can’t deal with them cutting more off than I want etc. I guess I must be a control freak 😂
