I am finally getting my a in gear to lose the last of this weight. I managed 4st without really doing a lot, but I have another 4st to go.

I have home gym equipment in the form of dumbbells/kettlebells and plan on getting resistance bands too. man, I really didn’t realise just how unfit I have gotten!

So:
1. what are your favourite exercises to do? Please, drop all your ideas so I can give them a go!

2. Should I focus on one area a day rather than doing a range of exercises for the whole body? Im a little sore, which I know is to be expected, but then it occurred to me that I always see people focusing on one area and that maybe I should do this.

3. there are some exercises I currently cannot do as it causes pain. I have scoliosis and some, such as flutterkicks are a no go. I tried, it hurt. Anyone have experience with working out with scoliosis/back pain and have advice?

thank you!

Hi :)
If you're after some motivation then here are some Tips.....
1.always have your workout clothes ready in advance.
2. Always exercise at the same time of day. It then becomes a habit. I got into the habit of scheduled daily exercise years ago and its become as normal as washing my face in the morning.
3. Don't eat anything big beforehand.
I do running, sit ups and yoga. Good luck with your regime, I hope you find some suitable exercise ideas 👍

Thank you for the replies! It’s going fairly well so far 😁 I had a couple of days off but had a workout again today. I feel so much stronger already. My only issue is my upper back due to scoliosis but I’m taking it slowly and not over doing it. I’ve been using a posture corrector during the day also, hoping to help build the muscles up and use my body correctly.
I decided to focus on one area a day and maybe switch up my routines every 4 weeks or so.
I’ll certainly check out the other thread!

Well done @MyLittlePony25 Just wanted to say re point 2 on your post, from what I’ve learnt from good coaches on Instagram (not influencers) if you’re doing approx 4 workouts a week it’s best to do upper-lower body splits, two intense upper/lower then two not so intense. I think you need to be doing push-pull-legs 2x a week (6 workouts) for it to be effective, but best to start off with upper-lower.

I’ve been enjoying grow with Jo’s workouts on YouTube lately! A mixture of long/short and high/low intensity. Going to start waking up an hour earlier now to get one in for the morning.

I usually sleep at like 2am so i went to bed earlier last night and did some reading. Woke up feeling super energetic to do the workout too!

ooh I will check it out, thank you!
i have suffered with chronic insomnia for most of my life but this week, my sleep has improved enormously! I slept for over 8hrs last night and without using sleeping pills, so I’m really happy! I have lost quite a few pounds since starting this too so even happier! But I do need to actually get out and walk more, so today is the day! And afternoon walk and then just a short core workout is the plan 😁

Thank you @laughing I will check that out too.

so I didn’t end going for a walk. Meetings, phone calls and I was so damned cold. So I stuck my heating on, changed into my gym gear and did a leg & core workout. Doesn’t help that it’s the dreaded time of the month! But tomorrow I WILL go for a walk as I need to get my step count up. It’s arm and shoulder day tomorrow and I plan on going to a new place to walk on Sunday.

I got a tape measure and took my measurements today and 😭 spurred me on to keep going!
