Have the best time. I would love to go to Miami for a holiday one day. See the city and lie on the beach. It looks like a great city break destination, just a bit far away for a short break!
It was just for one night. We boarded a ship the next day. We've been to Colombia and Panama, today we're traversing the Panama Canal. Then we're off to Costa Rica, Mexico, LA and Seattle. We're staying on then to do a week in Alaska. Back via Toronto and Niagra Falls.

We have stayed a few days in Miami after a previous cruise ended there, the Art Deco areas are just lovely.

On the fence about booking my flights to Thailand, we want to go in January , we would usually book with Qatar Airways and change in Doha, this is making me a bit hesitant at the moment, I suppose nobody knows how long the war will last and how it will affect travel, I could go direct from London or change in Paris , Istanbul or other places that don't involve the middle east.
Is anyone else debating UK to Far East flights at the moment?
Im going to Thailand in January, we always go then to visit family. Obviously we don’t know what could happen between now and then but we still plan to go all being well. We’ve just the hotel booked atm but that’s more because we wait a while until we book flights as aren’t sure if we will go from Dublin or London yet.

we are due to fly to male in 4 weeks time. Hopeful it still goes ahead. Seems to be atm but ya never know what could happen so just keeping an eye on things at the moment

Split is lovely! You can spend a day wandering around the old town and Diocletian palace. Then down to the riva for drinks and people watching. If you like walking it’s worth walking up to Marjan Park for the views and tranquility. I did 2 nights there last year and loved it 🥰
And the number 37 bus goes from outside the airport into the city centre. Very easy and cheap.

After watching RATW we’ve decided to visit one of the Stan countries in the summer (we won’t have time to do any more on this trip). Just wondering if anyone else has been to that region and can recommend which one would be the ‘best’ to go to, to get a flavour/ overview of the area. Thanks.

Can you do a tour that would cover Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan? A friend travelled to all 3 and she said she honestly couldn't pick a favourite as each had its own charms.

I’ll have a look into whether something like this is doable on our time schedule. The countries are so vast it’ll be hard to fit everything in though.

I've been looking at guided tours of the Stans and there are loads of different options for 1 2 or 5 countries and spanning a couple of weeks to a month. They aren't cheap but they look amazing!

I go away in 2 weeks already packed 😆 tried not to over pack. Don't really want to carry hand luggage but taken a few outfits and essentials in hand luggage in case my luggage gets delayed due to short layovers. Been stalking the same flight daily for the last few weeks it was always on time but the last week or so the first flights been delayed every day

I keep checking my hotel and flights just in case something happens :D I'm not going until september so it doesnt feel real yet.

Does anyone have any pre holiday rituals they like to do to get them in the mood? Besides defuzzing and using a gradual tanner for a few days, my favourite thing is the aiport hotel the night before and ordering room service.

I always book the day off before, get my nails done and some beauty stuff. Then always head to the airport hotel. I love to be there the night before the flight so you can just relax. Grab some dinner at the airport or local pub, grab some goodies from M&S and then get into the hotel bed with snacks, a cup of tea and watch TV. Heaven. TBF, I'd happily do that even if I didn't have a flight just for a treat.

That sounds lovely! My thing is a drink in the bar and then nice shower and room service burger and glass of wine.

I think painting my toe nails is the thing where I'm like ok going away now as I don't regularly do it 😆

I'm looking at Sorrento for next year to visit Pompeii. Does anyone recommend a time of the year to go? Was also looking at doing a possible boat trip. Looking probably start of may or start of June. Start of may is easier with work but just wondering if it would not be hot then.

We've been in early July and it's unbearably hot at Pompeii-there is absolutely no shade whatsoever, so I'd go as early as you can. Herculaneum is also a must see, much smaller and more compact than Pompeii and much better preserved. I preferred it. In both cases make sure you get a guide as Pompeii in particular is so vast, a guide will.make sure you see the important bits.

We did a boat trip to Positano and Amalfi and took a bus back along the Amalfi coast which was beautiful. I didn't think Amalfi lived up to the hype though, Positano was much prettier. The Amalfi coast is best seen from the water.

If you're staying in Sorrento then Capri is a must too!
