Just wondering what you'd do in this situation. I'm paranoid about my luggage getting delayed. I have two short layovers so I keep thinking it'll get stuck somewhere. When I get to my final destination I am staying in the airport terminal hotel overnight (arrive 7pm, leave 7am) then I'm flying internally somewhere else. Do you think I should change my internal flight to one later in the day? I just don't want to waste time at the airport if my luggage is fine. I am going to take a small hand luggage bag with essentials and a few days clothes just incase.
I read they have to deliver you luggage to you in this situation but would they do that if I'm getting another flight after
I'm not sure that I completely follow how your trip is planned. Are the flights independent of each other, and you'll collect your luggage at the end of each one before checking in and boarding the next? Is that the part where you're concerned it'll go missing? Then in your final destination, you stay overnight but fly again the next day? But, you are considering leaving later than 7am in case your luggage hasn't arrived?

Have you had a bad experience with delayed/ lost luggage, has that caused the concern? It happens but it's not especially common.

It is obviously a consideration for anyone travelling but is just part of the risk, to me. Our next trip has us landing in Miami at 9pm, we embark a ship for 4 weeks at 11am the next morning. Lost or delayed luggage is just part of the trip risk. We'd just delay boarding and go on a frantic shopping trip. All essential items, like medication will be in our cabin bag. Everything else, I'm sure I can buy. It's not ideal, but it would need to do.

Airlines will contact you, and they will forward your luggage to the address you give them, if your final location is a hotel for a few days, it can be sent there. You should put that hotel address on the suitcase.

One further question, do you have tracking tags in your luggage? A great way to know where your bags are and if lost or delayed you can tell the airline you know where they are.

I land at the main airport at 7pm, my luggage will be transferred to my finally destination, I have 2 layovers both just over an hour long.
Then sleep overnight at the airport and fly on a different airline to my final destination.
I've never had a bad experience but know of friends who had delayed flights which meant they made the flight but their luggage didn't.
I do have trackers. I could change my internal flight to later in the day or could get a back up ticket for a late ferry just in case.

I just wasn't sure that if my original airline did have a delay with the luggage id they'd transfer it to my hotel since I am getting on another flight to a different part of the country the next day

This has happened to me. If your luggage is delayed they take all your and your luggage details. Then take your destinations and the next thing you know an uber turns up a couple of days later with your luggage.
I just took it in my stride ad I knew getting stressed would not help.
Just make sure you have good insurance and keep all your receipts for everything

Thank you! I had been told by my friend that's what happened with her. Although I am getting the flight out of where I originally land the next day so unsure if they would still?
I'll probably take a few days outfits in my hand luggage and get them washed if I really needed to

My planned holiday in May has been postponed as one of the group can’t make it. I’m tempted to use my annual leave to go away for some sun anyway any suggestions for where to go for a few days sub and relaxation solo? I’ve only done city breaks on my own and don’t really want to stick out like a sore thumb on a beach holiday

I love the Canaries, had some smashing solo breaks in Lanzarote - Costa Teguise is a nice chilled resort.

I went to Greece all inclusive solo and felt fine. I mostly just relaxed at the pool, went into the town once

I have a friend who often goes solo for the sun (her partner hates to travel!) - I think she just makes sure there's a variety of restaurants in the resort and goes outside of school holidays!

Speaking of school holidays, has anyone got any suggestions for a beach-ish holiday in October half term with kids? Was thinking canaries but £££ now with everything happening so the same money wondering what else we could do! Would love a part city / part sun break - something for the adults and then more of an AI vibe to the kids who love the pool.

I had posted this elsewhere but this thread has been recommended so looking for your worldly wisdom.
We are looking to book our summer holiday. Our go to is usually All Incusive in Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum & Marmaris areas) however, for various reasons we are looking to go elsewhere this year.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Of both resorts and actual hotels.

Only sticking point is we have a grumpy 13 year old boy so must be suitable for him.

Having read lots of horror stories in the media about US immigration, I was shocked we were only there for 10 minutes. I'm not complaining obviously, but it was unexpected to say the least.

Which city did you fly to?
Miami. The airport seemed very quiet. Our flight was only about a quarter full.
We're off on our cruise today but will need to do immigration again in San Diego, hopefully that's as smooth.

On the fence about booking my flights to Thailand, we want to go in January , we would usually book with Qatar Airways and change in Doha, this is making me a bit hesitant at the moment, I suppose nobody knows how long the war will last and how it will affect travel, I could go direct from London or change in Paris , Istanbul or other places that don't involve the middle east.
Is anyone else debating UK to Far East flights at the moment?

Don't know where you live but did they not start doing some direct flights to Thailand from Manchester as well?
A friend of mine bought tickets to Thailand via the middle east for may and only booked them a few weeks ago, after the way started not she why they went for them flights... I'm glad I booked cheap flights and avoid the middle east. I recommend Istanbul airport it's lovely

Yes I am from Manchester, there are direct flights but only with Tui to Phuket which I can only get for 3 weeks, and Norse to Bangkok, it has rescheduled quite a few flights in recent months and also it is an 'extreme' budget airline , not sure I would want to book with them.
I do like Istanbul airport, we flew with Turkish Airlines to Mumbai a few years back and they were great..

Have the best time. I would love to go to Miami for a holiday one day. See the city and lie on the beach. It looks like a great city break destination, just a bit far away for a short break!

Yes I'm looking at Australia, and have previously gone via Doha. A travel agent in Aus advised against it as a lot of the flights are being cancelled so am currently looking at 2 or 3 stops. the shortest route seems to take me via China currently. I hate long distance solo travel and the extra stops are making me feel quite anxious but I feel the only option to avoid flying through the middle east. Let me know how you get on

Booked my flights and hotel this morning for my solo New Orleans trip in September. This will be the second time I have been there. Cannot wait!! Been saving all last year for it.
