Headache

I suffer from migraines and a couple of other health issues which I believe contribute to them. I’m on medication for them which I take daily. Mine are quite bad to the point I need darkness, I vomit or don’t feel at all hungry. I know what triggers me - mainly light but there’s a few including: not getting enough sleep or interrupted sleep, stress, fizzy drinks, dehydration, changes in the temperature and occasionally hormonal. I wear blue light glasses whenever I’m on a screen as this was something that definitely contributed and helped when I wear the glasses. I wear sunglasses a lot in the winter cos that horrible grey/white sky we get during the day is horrible on my eyes.
Anyway, I love to sleep and I love to nap off any migraines - I love sleep masks. For Christmas, I got one of these masks and let me tell you - though pricey - they are 100000% worth it for the light they block out and the improvement in my sleep has been incredible, I’ve barely woken up through the night since getting one.

Haven’t seen night guards mentioned yet.

I know of someone who suffered terribly with headaches every day. Was back and fore to the doctors but they couldn’t figure it out. He was made a night guard and hasn’t had a headache since! He had been unknowingly clenching in the night causing horrendous tension headaches.

Yes my husband grinds his teeth and gets terrible pain in his temple and headaches so he has a guard (just bought one online and molded it himself) and it has improved.

I have a night guard but it just makes me want to grind my teeth more

So a little update, I had both daiths done (not by a piercer but by a medical professional who only does them for migraines) four weeks ago. The first week I instantly regretted it and my headaches were worse, shorter but worse in pain but I have not had one migraine since.

He gave me an extensive report of the reasons why I was getting headaches and recommended some exercises along with seeing an osteopath. In all honestly I think the osteopath was the best thing I did. Since my 2nd session with him I have not had a single headache.

I do think the daiths have helped my migraines, and honestly the brain fog lifted instantly. I have weirdly also lost my sweet tooth and my intense need to eat which I think was a combination of feeling rubbish along with the dread of a sugar low/hunger induced headache.

I have lots of piercings, the pain was intense but I must say the healing has been quite brutal, they are still sore and quite weepy. I still cannot wear headphones and sleeping can still be quite uncomfortable, but I do not regret having them done.

That’s so interesting, thanks for the update @JoeBloggs

I hope you don’t mind me asking. What has the osteopath been doing for you / working on?

I’m on medication for my migraine and headaches. It’s helped reduce the frequency and manage the pain when they come on, but they still affect my quality of life in so many ways.

So I have curvature of the spine (it's a family trait), so my muscles have over compensated and one of my shoulders/ribs was higher than the other. I didn't realise but I could not turn my neck fully left and this was my migraine side because it was all so tight. So he has been working on my neck and upper back and moving it all back into place, I only had to see him three times and he was very pleased with my progress, I am going back in a few weeks to have him look at my back too and I am also going to look at getting some deep tissue massages to stop everything getting so tight.

It is a bit of massage with some pulling and clicking, nothing hurts but it is a bit of an odd sensation as the clicking is so loud!

Thanks. It’s so interesting how it’s all connected isn’t it. I’m glad you’re getting some relief 😊
