Has car been marked?

OK, this is a bit random but just wondered if it seems a bit odd or creepy to others?

I popped to my parents house (both pensioners) this morning and noticed some long leaves on my dad's car windshield that's parked in the driveway. They looked like they came off one of their large plants in the front.

No big deal, it was pretty windy last night. But as I went to clear them off, I noticed both leaves were tied in a knot at the top and actually placed under the windshield wipers. The wind couldn't have done that.

Then, I noticed that another long leaf was actually tied in a proper knot around one of the door handles!

My mum says there was definitely nothing on the car at 6.45 last night as she took the bin out, which is right by the car, and also where she sits in the living room has a direct view of the car.

So, it would seem that these leaves mysteriously appeared sometime later that evening, or even creepier, during the middle of the night! There are no local kids around that could have been playing pranks.

My dad doesn't take it out much these days. It's mostly just used for the weekly shop and I'm a bit concerned the car was marked.

Anyone hear of anything like this or experienced similar?

Are there any cameras on the street that could have captured the person coming or leaving the area where car is parked?

It’s random could just be a prank but if you can find out more would obviously make you feel better

Thanks for the reply. Nope no cameras.

It definitely is random but I always think things like this are a bit disconcerting. Like, who did it and what was their intention? Even for a prank, it's not like there are any youngsters about just being daft and certainly not late in the evening. It seems weirdly specific. I can't even imagine thieves would mark cars in such a way.

I would get a camera for the house it’s good to have in general, have used before as proof in insurance claim of delivery driver causing damage

It is weird and creepy.

Have your parents talked to any of their neighbours to establish if they saw anything, or had the same thing happen?

I agree getting a camera is a great idea. You can get very cheap ones that play to your phone.

In an area where I live, people were opening their doors or coming home and finding white pebbles on their doorstep - the common consensus (on local Facebook groups, so not like the Police) was that it be groups of folk flagging up properties to rob.

I would look at some sort of security measures, for peace of mind as much as anything else. Those Verisure adverts make me want to gouge my own eyes out with a rusty spoon but they do say they come out and install quickly. Or Ring doorbells are obvious and are popular.

I hope you get something sorted out

It is strange ... a friend's neighbourhood has been on the receiving end of sausages wrapped in bread being left in their letterboxes! I hope nobody eats them - I'd be very worried about them being laced with something.

Oh bloody he'll! That is crazy! What on earth!?

My mum chatted to a couple of neighbours, but they'd had nothing. It's reassuring, although still strange, if it happens to other neighbours, but if it's just you, it feels way worse. Nothing weird has happened since, touch wood.

Yes, things like pebbles I've heard of. I'm trying to convince them to get a ring doorbell.
