Has anyone visiting Orlando with a criminal record?

My partner went to prison 13 years ago before he met me (embarrassed to say) he hasn't done anything wrong or been in trouble since.

Ive been to Florida so many times with my family and left him at home because I don't think his visa would be approved.

I would love him to come with us this summer if we go.

Has anyone been with a conviction?

Thanks for any advice

He could try going to the American embassy in London. However there was a whole documentary about how they rejected 95% who tried it.

A distant family member of mine has done a few stints in prison. Most recent one for tobacco smuggling. He’s been to the US since. He just had to go to the US embassy in London for an interview there in order for his tourist VISA to be approved.

Although if he has a VISA approved, that doesn’t automatically make him eligible to enter the country. A border force/border protection officer will have the final say once he gets to the airport.

Sorry I don’t I’m afraid. But if your partner wants to go he just needs to be 100% honest about his past convictions, wether that be in the application for a visa process, the interview at the embassy (if he requires an interview) and then with the border officer if he does make it to the states.

I’ve been to the USA once. (California) and even though I have no convictions, being questioned at the airport border control is very daunting. The strictest security I’ve ever experienced. But my advice to your partner would be, just stay calm and be 100% honest. There’s no point trying to dumb it down or tell some white lies because that won’t go down well.

The worst that will happen is his visa application could be rejected or he could be denied entry to the country once he gets there. Would be awful for you but in hindsight not the end of the world.

If the process would be too stressful, I’d suggest looking at a different destination. Best of luck to him.
