I like watching the show but I definitely learnt more in the earlier series. Gaynor for example is clearly a great sewer who actually plans the timings well. Making random pop art stuff isn't particularly relatable, it's not project runway.

I feel like in earlier series' we saw them tackle specific techniques. I remember the series with Claire in who wore vintage glasses and hairstyle, they had one week where they all had to make a rugby jersey with difficult placket, and we got to see all the steps and explanations of how they were doing it. And same series they made kilts and they focused on the pleating and the precision needed. This series we see the end result but I don't feel like we see much/learn much about specific techniques. It's too much about colour choice now when actually I want to see more close ups of their actual sewing, and no offence I don't want to know their personal lives all the time. I want to see them sew.

They should swap the transformation for a challenge like in pottery showdown, who can make the most, usable, bias binding in 15 minutes. Who can make the best channels and put boning in on a corset in 30 mins, who can darn the most holey socks etc. Real skills that they can demonstrate their aptitude in.

Did make me laugh a bit when Rebecca said she hoped this would show anyone with a disability they can do it: they had a woman with one hand on years ago love.

Sorry to hark back to the transformation challenge again but didn't both judges say the pleats on Kit's bodice dress weren't very good? Uneven? Yet Gaynor's sewing had no faults it was just that Esme didn't like it. She should 100% have come second in that.
Orla's doll was so much better than the scarecrow - ridiculous it was a tie.

I think Sophie’s great - she’s not over the top trying to clown around, and she’s got the right balance of warmth, interest and good humour with the contestants. Like a slightly calmer version of Claudia in the early series.

I agree about the colour choice. Esme and Patrick both saying they do or don't like the colour or fabric. But that's so subjective isn't it? And no reflection on anyone's actual ability.

I love Sophie on this. Really warmed to her on Taskmaster. Think she comes across as interested, emphatic and uses her humour sporadically rather than the constant sketches they tried to shoehorn in the past. Anna is fantastic.

Heather and Beth have a wonderful M2M. I’d like Beth to win overall.

Beth is my favourite too. I think she's been judged harshly for her designs being a bit 'safe'. But the execution is always exquisite.

Was it mean I laughed at who went out? She 100% thought she was safe.

Gaynor got ripped to bits by the judges a couple of weeks ago for her "too simple" dance costume, even though it was really well-fitted and made of really challenging fabric. Kit does something simple and gets garment of the week.

He did very little fitting. It was all oversized and elasticated. Again, others have been criticised heavily for that.

He seemed to spend most of his time on the hessian hat and fringing effect. The rest was extremely basic.
I thought Esme was incredibly harsh on Gaynor in the transformation challenge. Second last with her red dress. Esme kept grumpily saying 'I don't like it. It's too pouffy' instead of concentrating on the amount of work that had gone into it in an innovative way. No way should Kaz's short velvet dress have been rated higher (imo).

I asked the woman in our local Hobbycraft who will get the big Patrick cardboard cut out when they're finished with it but she said there's a queue

As soon as he said 'I don't need a pattern' I knew he was going home. That's how editing works. But Patrick was clearly really angry that he said it.

I like all of the final 3 and I don't mind who wins.

It's the first week where I've actually liked what Gaynor made and thought I would wear but sadly I do still think it was her time.

Yes I agree it was her time.
I was just surprised how grumpy Esme seemed with her in the transformation challenge sometimes I think she makes it too much about her personal taste.

Ooh. Ro is quite annoying. The speaking in Gaelic is a bit of an ick

yeah there was no need for it, just seemed like showing off and being a 'pick me'.

I'm glad Caz won, she did the most in the transformation, and her ribcage dress was great.
