Booked to have my make up done for an event in a few weeks never done it before so wanted to hear some others experiences.

Booked online so should I go in before to talk to the MUA about what I want or is showing photos on the day sufficient?

I have a clear idea of what I want and I’m comfortable to take photos. Do they appreciate this?

Also I guess I go completely bare faced? With just my skincare done?

Anything I should or shouldn’t do?

Apologies for for stupid questions just no idea what to expect!

Showing photos on the day should be fine. If it's bridal or prom they usually do a trial but they'll work with what you want from photos and be grateful to have something to work from rather than just saying what you want as your interpretation of say 'smokey eye' can be worlds apart from theirs.

Yes, go bareface with your skincare done so they have a completely blank canvas. The girl who usually does mine for events etc goes over with a tiny bit of cleanser if needed but think that's just MUA preference.

It's basically the same etiquette as going to your hairdresser but it's or your face so as long as you don't scratch your nose, touch your face etc while they're working or talk while your lips are being done you're good!

Say what you want/take a picture - I had a bit of the shock when i had my first one done. It looked lovely but was overwhelming for me.

I absolutely love having my makeup done!! I always book in with someone who I like their style of work anyway so usually refer to their own pics they’ve done. I normally show pics for makeup I like, they will usually ask you questions like.. do you want a fluffy brow etc. But anything specific I would usually say before like - I like a full coverage or I want a glowy look! Enjoy it’s such a lovely experience having it done and then you’re basically ready too lol so stress free xx

Had mine done for my wedding and had a trial, I was very much ' not sure what I want, bit of a smokey eye ' it was very heavy though and I wasn't keen at the end. Luckily I had the guts to say and we went through what I liked about it, so we kept the same base, lashes and brows and went less on the eyeshadow and highlight. In hindsight I wish I took photos to the trial, but on the day I absolutely loved it and it looked amazing. They're professionals so they won't be offended if you show them multiple pictures and ask for certain bits to be toned down/up.
