Sorry to butt in on an established thread with possibly an unpopular view but having watched the various Wham docs recently I've come to the conclusion that Shirlie Kemp is absolutely unbearable.
She behaves as if no one knew George better than her or was more loved by him and lords it over Pepsi and even Andrew to the point of rudeness. She just comes across as a professional mourner monetising a relationship that maybe wasn't quite as close as she claims.
Welcome here 👋

I can't say I have ever taken to her - I've always felt she got lucky - she can't dance for toffee, and doubt she can hold much of a tune either. I think the interviews and this recent documentary is showing more of her, and definitely her attitude - she barely let's Pepsi get a word in!

I'd much rather listen to Andrew and Pepsi - have no interest in listening to Shirlie if I'm honest.

And how many times do we need to know how George went on Shirlie and Martin's first date ?
It's like it's the only story they actually have about George.

I think she certainly did get lucky and is clinging onto it for grim life. She always reminds me of a witchy school gates mum who'd be superficially welcoming but very quick to make it plain that she's Queen Bee!

Also (on a roll here!) her story of how they all got together us suspect! According to her she was super cool in school and Andrew and George both admired her from afar but she had no time for them. Cut to a couple of years later and they all met on the street, bonded immediately and rushed off to listen to records in George's bedroom. What she now glosses over as she's married to Martin Kemp is she actually met George because she was going out with Andrew. I always think Young Guns was probably written about her!

I've got mixed feelings about Andrew. I think he handled being the less (not) talented one with a lot of grace and was never anything other than generous to and about George. However, he's got very pompous with age and is now indeed insufferable.

They are all that’s left and they are clinging on to that gravy train for dear life. Pepsi seems very sweet though.

Can’t believe Pepsi is 66 , she looks really good
She really does 👍. Was lovely to see the other ladies on the documentary that had appeared in Last Christmas - lovely to listen to the memories they had too.

I think I'm going to have to watch it again as I put it on on Xmas Eve, although admittedly, I wasn't paying attention as I was wrapping last minute, so never saw the bits where people thought she was being snide.

I think it was the documentary makers putting too much emphasis on her! She got interviewed way more than anyone else, when in fact it was Andrew who was his best friend!

Pepsi and the other ladies looked genuinely happy to see the actress that had played the love interest in the video - Shirlie (only my opinion) kept a fixed 😬 in place. She didn't jump up to greet her, it did appear that they didn't know she was coming, or was there.

I've 'met' Andrew and George. Andrew was a bit eccentric and asked me & my freind if we wanted a glass of coke when he ordered a pint for himself in a Soho pub. George is really lovely. Saw & spoke to him at The Beat Route club, he was dancing next to me & my friend made a beeline for him to dance with her so he told her he was tired & chatted to me for a while. Shirlie was in the WAG club and a horrible foul mouthed fishwife. The current accent is fake. She shoved Andrew across the dance floor & was calling him an effing C. Lovely.

Ooh what's her real accent? It wouldn't surprise me if the whole yummy mummy persona is fake!

Well, I'm a Norf West Londoner with an East End partner so my accent isn't exactly RP (although I spoke a bit posh as a child). She sounded like a Chav, sweary and mean faced with it, a bit like Bianca off East Enders. When I've seen her lately on TV I've thought hmmm, what a faker.
I saw George in Heaven too with Pepsi not long after the previous encounter, he'd clocked me but probably mostly in hindsight was looking at my larger than life leather clone friend. I wish I'd gone over and said hello but I was a bit shy & aloof.

I finally sat down and watched the Last Christmas film today. Absolutely predictable but sweet and made me sob like a baby.

Hope he's proud up there because so many of us are of him down here 🥲🥲🥲
