I had the misfortune of working with her many years ago. She was an absolute pain in the a, even her costars couldn't stand her.

I think she's one of the most ghastly individuals - certainly on a par with Stephen Fry, and considerably more vulgar. I'm not a prude by any means, as anyone reading my posts could see, but she goes well over the line of decency.

I don't think that the transman who wants to get pregnant winning the right to have a GRC is important. The SC ruling essentially renders the GRC meaningless. It was interesting during the hearing that the SC judges were very keen to understand what 'living as a woman' meant iro of men to women GRC applications. The Scottish Government barrister was obviously unable to give an answer. I felt that that really helped to show that in reality there is no difference between men identifying as women with a GRC and those without. And in turn, there is no difference between a man identifying as a woman and all other men. That was a big part of the SC saying that a piece of paper couldn't give some TiM greater rights, including that to be treated as women in all circumstances, than others.
UK courts have already ruled that a TiF who gives birth is still the mother of the child and not the father, even if they have a GRC. So, the courts have clearly established that a GRC does not represent a change of sex. This decision does not contradict that position in any way, despite what the fox-killer might be trying to suggest.
Let him have these wins: they are meaningless and don't change our most important victory.

It's a terrible shame that so much damage and destruction was caused to AB and so very many others are harmed and affected.

I know upthread, there was discussion about the end game being lowering the age of consent, and although I can certainly see this being one aim, I also think there is a push to take away any rights from women. I think there is a section of the male population that would like it if we had no rights at all. I don’t want to undress in front of men ( or anyone to be perfectly honest). Surely that’s my right to choose. It’s such a slippery slope. If women can’t say “no” due to chromosomal apartheid ( as in recognising what a man is) where does it end. The world is getting crazier and it’s vile.
Not wanting to go off topic, but above that post, there was another, commenting on an Imam in Birmingham discussing the correct way to stone a woman to death. The post was of course condemning it, but it’s another side to just how much certain sections of the population hate women. The media/social media are trying to manipulate the public into believing that the fundamentalist side of Islam is a holistic representation of Islam and its followers. Yes, it has its misogynistic bovva boys as do many fundamentalist sides of different religions, (including Christianity) which seek to control women. The ‘interpretation’ of how religions should be practised has historically been down to men, so they’re going to gear their practices to support their own interests.
My two best friends are second generation Pakistani immigrants who were brought up in the Muslim faith. They are both enlightened people who have daughters they would defend from religious misogyny. One of their mothers (now in her 80s) wanted to arrange a marriage for her daughter at 16, but her father said absolutely not and encouraged all his children to pursue an education and make their own choices in life.
