I was slapped across the head by a teacher because I laughed at another kid acting up and I happened to be closer so I copped it. bleeping cow, she didn't know my mum worked for the Education Department and knew some higher-ups. Mum never told me what she said or did but I can't remember seeing the child slapper after that. I would've only been maybe 8 at the most? Horrible experience.

I was at school in the 70s/early 80’s and corporal punishment was absolutely a thing. Primary teachers used to smack us or wrap us over the knuckles with a ruler. The big thing here in Scotland though was “The Belt” also known as The Lochgelly Tawse, literally a leather belt used to hit children in the open palm of the hand. I never experienced it thankfully and absolutely barbaric thinking on it.

I get told on there all the time I look like a man, but twink is a new one.
I'm 47 and look every single day of it, and then some!
These people are so weird.

Also, can I say I love the Terfery popping up on Secret sleb gossip, it's the main other board I post on.

Its probably a great option to opt out of a comparison. I can't imagine constantly being compared to JLo or Cher or Jennifer Garner etc and coming up short whereas if you're now their "son" you're no longer compared.

I see it also in daughters of Real Housewives and a number of them have come out as trans, no wonder they see the effort that their Mothers put into maintaining a level of hyper femininity and they want to opt out.
Not surprising that there's almost always some kind of MH or neurodiversity condition also involved.
It's sad that some young girls and women see that type of female (high maintenance real housewives) and think if they don't relate to it, then they mustn't be female.
Most of us don't but we never question our gender sex.
There is no one single thing that makes a person a female other than chromosomes.
The sooner that every single 'feminine ' or 'masculine' stereotype disappears, the better.
And the sooner that men with MH problems who think that all it takes to be a woman is the performative parts (wig, make up, 'girly' clothes, and mannerisms 🤢) the better!

One of my primary school teachers (in 50s/60's) was. Scottish. She had a tawse.

Every morning she made a great point of getting it out of her desk drawer, and with some ceremony would place it at the front of her desk where it was in full view of the class. I never knew her have to use it. (And she was, in fact one of the kindest and most generous people I ever knew. Her name was Miss Borland and we all loved her.)

Like others, though, I have experienced the casual finger flicks and knuckle punches to the temple, rulers across the palm (and the knuckles, which was so much worse), and the blackboard rubber to the head - I swear my skull still bears the dints.

I was never caned or slippered (gymshoe), but I have seen both of these things happen, but only to boys. We girls were more usually publicly humiliated as idiots etc, and I still remember one male teacher who made a 10 year old girl stand on a desk and berated her in front of the whole class while she stood there sobbing. He wasn't just an adult man verbally abusing a little girl - he was a BIG adult man, over 6'. It was horrible! And we were terrified. I can't remember what she did or said to "deserve" it but she was in an awful state, and eventually screamed "Shutupshutupshutup". The whole class just held their breath. The teacher literally grabbed her bay the back of the neck and threw her into the corridor and frog-marched her to the headmaster's office. I can't remember what the outcome was. It's only the horrible incident itself that is still burned onto my brain.

This. ^^^^^^

All this hormone levels and genotype, phenotype, karyotype*. etc stuff is entirely ruled by chromosomes.

*Whatever they might be - I just see them bandied about as being important regarding "types of gender", more important than the chromosomes, rather than the actual fact, which is that they are actually influenced by the chromosomes.

Chromosomes underpin everything.

Unfortunately I can’t read all of this due to the paywall. Wondering if anyone else can access it, and agree. NHS Fife have behaved disgracefully and people must be held accountable.
Meanwhile, this Scottish Government just gets worse and worse.

That's a great read, and a great tribute to JKR.

I was just thinking recently of all the fabulous women who have really stood up and stood out against the trans bull. Fantastic, every last one of them.

This shows what we have come to. In America, girl loses place in a team to a boy claiming to be a girl, and coming out with a very male threat.
