Oh dear. I always thought Sophie Ellis Bextor seemed quite sensible. ☹
Apparently not. This is from 6 years ago

The singer is an outspoken advocate for LGBT+ rights and has five children, all of whom were born male.

“I’m not really bothered about what [gender identity] they choose – I just want them to feel like they have choice,” Ellis-Bextor told The Guardian.

Generally speaking, though, Ellis-Bextor believes society is much better at understanding “the spectrum of gender”.

“We’ve got to get to a point where we can have their voices heard,” she added.

“But the main point is about just making sure that, socially and economically, [trans people] are supported in the right way.”

She has 5 boys. The cynic in me is questioning whether she is gearing up to trans one of them.

Has anyone seen the Louis Theroux documentary on Netflix yet? I want to watch but am genuinely worried it will upset me.
(For context I only watched the first episode of Adolescent because it was too upsetting. Brilliant but horrifying)
Yes, I watched it. And yes it is upsetting.

He's only interviewing some of the lesser known Manosphere men, Id assume a lot of them refused point blank to speak to him. The ones he did talk to, made it obvious they are complete con men, with no morals at all. They make their fortunes out of using/abusing social media to make money of their followers, (who mainly seem to be naive young men) So its in their interests to generate as many views as possible, by being as offensive and aggressive and disgusting as possible.

So to some extent Louis is at a massive disadvantage, because they literally do not care how offensive or disgusting they are, or what they actually say, their morality is zero. So they can film him and attempt to wind him up, when he tries to be rational and calm and disagree, and they are always going to be the winners, because they are getting money from the clicks! Its a very sad expose of a part of social media.

I didnt believe the guys as influencers, actually believed half of the crap they were spouting. Its almost all said for effect.

However, I know too many young men, who are friends or ex boyfriends of my daughters, who seem to be adopting too many of these manosphere values, to not be scared! Its the whole cult of wealth at all cost, the money spent on clothes and cars and appearance. The expectation on women to look sexy for men and spend a fortune on clothes make up, boob jobs, botox etc . The expectation that men can boss women around and tell women what to do. The idea that women should be monogamous, whilst the men have the right to sleep around!
The attitude towards women as a whole is disgusting.

Having watched the Louis Theroux Manosphere documentary though, I realised how much I miss the totally inappropriate humour of my childhood.

The whole Carry on films stuff, and the Les Dawson mother in Law jokes etc. Totally totally inappropriate at times, but it did highlight the ridiculousness of aspects of life, and make people laugh at them. And more importantly realise how out of order some of these attitudes and comments actually were.

These idiotic manosphere influencers, like Harrison S, Ticky Tacky, need laughing at for their hypocrisy. Working as an agent for girls running/working on Only Fans sites, yet expecting their non existent girlfriends to be monogamous, whilst still sexy and devoted to them, is absurd, and totally unrealistic. And if they could be laughed at, maybe their power to influence other young men would reduce!

Like maybe a Borat, or a younger version, against the Manosphere. or against the nonsense of Trans rights, (I did actually dislike Borat, but watching with my kids, it did occasionally make me laugh, so maybe stuff like this is important?)

I wondered that also, mum probably there on husband’s behalf I read he keeps a tight rein on her not sure if true or not, but I think it is just another tick box excerise and trying to keep herself in the public eye for whatever reason.

I absolutely detest Fry and his fake humility and desperate clawing for status of an intellectual but mainly because of his hatred of women. Makes me want to punch his bent nose back into shape.
His TV career is currently in JEOPARDY!

That show has been axed after two series. What a crying shame. Not!

He was hardly a charismatic game show host, but a crashing bore to watch and listen to.

Louis Theroux likened consuming pornography to buying fast food and has given me the ick ever since. Didn’t like him much to start with and that tipped me over the edge.

Little lighthearted post…
I have never liked Sophie Ellis Bextor, but that was crystallised when she bought something from my sis on Ebay and never left positive feedback. I am a pedant and wot?! Haha.
