McLaren are awesome employers. A distant relative worked for them, sadly became terminally ill and the support they offered the family was absolutely immense and that continued after he passed away too.

I will always have a soft spot for McLaren and really hope they perform well this season.

I love Seb, so pleased for him and feel like he’s getting his old self back after toxic Ferrari drained it from him.
loads of rumours Russell signed for merc for 2022 at monaco and bottas has been told. Would explain his terrible form recently.
I also saw a story that merc lineup next year would be Russell and Vettel! Ha ha can’t see that as much as I’d love to see Seb in a merc.

Interestingly when he crossed the finish line he said nothing on the radio in response to being told he was P7. It was silence. Most people say something after a bad race even if it’s just that as a team they will learn from what’s happened and move on.


Some of his comments in interviews though were a bit questionable. He made one comment that he had nothing he could learn from this race but the team did. Like he has to accept some of the blame- he did awful all weekend (compared to Valterri) so there must be some learning from what happened. He can’t blame it all on the team (unless there was some significant difference between the two cars set up to explain it)

Bottas got on top of the car in a way Hamilton never did. Hamilton has to accept and learn from that. His race was ruined because of a poor qualifying. Everyone knows track position is king on the streets of Monte Carlo. He has to take some of the blame for that.

He was rather petulant. He's allowed to be annoyed and angry, but the petulance and moodiness just makes him come across as a bit of a knob.

My nephew is a race day support engineer for McLaren so basically has to know how to build the car it,s his 4th season and loves it. Mercedes have tried to poach him but he believes that McLaren are going from strength to strength now and on the cusp of success and is happy to stay where he is.

yikes I wouldn’t know where to look. Seb was doing a promotional thing and cracked a joke and she said his last performance was nothing to joke about and pretty much told him to get on and do the job. I was gobsmacked. In fact drive to survive has been a massive eye opener on how awful some of the team principals are. Driver musical chairs is not good and you see the likes of Albon, Gasly and Vettel almost destroyed by their team.

Albon visibly reduces as RB make it clear he’s on his way out, even though he was denied podiums by other drivers. Was awful to watch. Same with Gasly. Just brutal.

I think Red Bull was amazing at the start, they always did something fun. But then Helmut could not shut up, and even though I like the drivers, the team does not have a "happy" vibe.

Zac Brown has really transformed McLaren in so many ways, and this human side of McLaren is a key part of it.

Back in the Ron Dennis days it was a very serious organisation, very meticulous but lacking a soul from the outside. And in the dark days of Ron Vs Martin, and all the political fighting that kicked off around spygate and the aftermath that arguably didn't really end until Dennis left McLaren totally brought down the vibes.

Zac is just so good. He's a brilliant boss, got the right team in place, great personality, but also got the drive to win and take the team forward. You can see how happy the team is these days, the McLaren unboxed videos help to show that as well.
