Has anyone else seen the comments on her latest reel? Apparently the podcast guest - the holistic psychologist - (never heard of them before) is a conspiracy theorist with ties to the extreme right and Qanon, posted 2 days ago but not a word from Florence/team about the situation while she is posting as normal... it's all very strange!

Also, if anyone knows of a thread for the holistic psychologist please link me! I couldnt find one but I'm a bit rubbish with the search on here

I’m surprised with her having nearly 6 mil followers and seemingly extremely problematic, I thought she’d have an active thread.

If she is, she must keep those views very private. I’ve followed her for 3-4 years and listened to a bunch of podcasts she’s been on, and nothing along those lines has come up once (even during 2020-2021 when that sort of conversation was everywhere). Nothing visible on a couple of quick Google searches either … my detective skills might be totally shit, or this could be someone stirring? Surely with a platform that big something would have been shared or come out that made her views plain. Conspiracy theorists are rarely quiet about it…

As I said I had never heard of THP, I couldn't see anything relating to ties or funding to far right from google, but in my opinion a lot of what she talks about is conspiracist. For one she is not a licensed psychologist and there appears to be a handful of licensed insta (and real life) psychologists calling her out over the information she shares (found in a VICE article). I personally think the whole "you own your mindset" and "dont chase a diagnoses" to be extremely dangerous ideologies when it comes to serious, long term mental health issues.

I have found a good bit of info on her via unfollowyourinfluencer blog/website that someone mentioned in the comments on that reel, but it's long and I don't have time to go through it the now.

But anyway, this is veering into getting off topic, maybe a thread will appear for her one day. Seems like all the concern in Florences comments has been ignored anyway!

Yeah, I can see that. But equally her approach is very helpful to those who don’t need to be medicated, and are simply caught up in a system that pushes pharmaceuticals rather than actually healing (remembering she’s American and their healthcare is bonkers).

It’s a tricky space. Reparenting won’t work for everyone, but it does work for a lot of people. Psychs all have their ‘flavour’ and can in-fight endlessly about who’s right & wrong. I’m not too fussed about her not being licensed - she’s not actively working in the consultation space anymore, I can’t imagine many people forking out fees for something they’re not using. She’s fully qualified and did practice for years, that’s what led her to this more holistic approach - working with countless patients who didn’t actually have mental health conditions or need to be medicated, but legally that’s the safest (and often only available) route in the States. Realising education is a form of indoctrination, to a point … there are loads of examples of this in the health sector (gaslighting women about the effects of hormonal contraception, for one. Doctors only know what they’re taught and sadly there’s quite a bit that’s been misrepresented, under-researched, or is shockingly out of date.) For those with serious conditions, absolutely, ditching everything and going it alone would be disastrous. But there are sooo many people it’s been so unbelievably enlightening to, and not knowing about the stuff she shares is equally damaging (and expensive - read, profitable!)

I find this stuff super interesting. Largely because, with the in-fighting or “calling out” between professionals, it’s often more about ego, belief systems or profit than an actual consideration of what’s best for the patient.

Pharmaceuticals are a blessing to those who need them. But there’s no denying health (not just mental) has been overly medicalised in recent decades and for all the people it’s helped, there are many more who have been significantly harmed.

… I was about to go into a spiel about Omeprazole vs. dietary guidance as an example and realised yeah, I’m waaay off topic Anyway WHAT WE THINKIN’ ‘BOUT FLOSS Y’ALL? I actually really like her podcast Although haven’t listened to season 2 yet. And bits of the first were tooooo woke culture for this almost-elder millennial.

Ooo no I’ve kept reading, not come across anything conspiracist (unless you count a lot of descriptions of her as a neoliberalist? I’m too thick to connect those dots myself and work out what’s being referred to) but there is a pretty glaring lack of addressing sociological factors in the whole “you can heal yourself” diatribe. Which is very problematic on its own.

Needed to resurrect this thread because OH MY GOD. Her daily “get ready with me” videos are absolutely fucking insufferable. I’m all for self love but if she was chocolate she’d eat herself.

I have not been on this thread in a long time . Florence has made her way to TikTok with GRWM videos. The shaking her arse about and hitching up the nightie and shaking her tits about is awful. I am cringing on her behalf.

Not saying she hasn’t worked for it, but at the same time, she’s also been lucky to have found a career in a lucrative space.

Women talking about how they don't like men is not "degrading" them... it's a natural response to the patriarchy in which men are in control of and benefit from.
