I talked to sky today to get mine set up and they told me the hub is delivered to the address 5 days before the activation date. On the activation date you need to physically plug the hub into the house for them to activate it. I would call sky and change the date.

Fyi I'm only getting broadband set up then deciding if we want to add sky TV later.

Thank you - I had called them and changed to 31st January.

Definitely need to get this pushed back to after 1st February.

This would cancel the current provision so leave the current occupants with no broadband!

Yesterday was moving day and it was a bit of a stress. Previous owners took all the furniture that was supposed to be mine on the contract so I’ve been on the phone to the solicitors sorting that. Half a mind just to leave it though because I was replacing it anyway and I can survive without it. Tested the bathroom door and got locked in for 10 mins. Luckily someone had come with me so could YouTube how to get me out. And then we realised the boiler wasn’t working. Top tips so far are: bring a toolbox, look for all the appliance paperwork and test doors from the outside so you don’t get locked in. Oh and bring scissors

I work in conveyancing and the one tip I always give to people for either buying a first home or moving home is to pack and bag/box of "essentials" for moving day. In the bag I would put:
- Phone charger
- Kettle
- Teabags, coffee, sugar, milk
- Mugs/spoons
- Scissors
- Small tool set
- Washing up liquid and sponge
- Tea towel

I would also have an overnight bag packed, as if you were going on holiday, so that you'll have easy access for all the things you'll need on your first morning/night staying there. You then won't have to route through boxes of stuff searching for your hairbrush and toothbrush!

When you get the keys the very first thing you should do is take meter readings and report them to the utility companies - you don't want to be charged for anything prior to your ownership! Second most important thing - ensure hot water and heating is working!
