For me it has to be the classic cheese salad on white with salad cream. When it's done right it's amazing. I used to like ham in it but gone off that recently. Has to be the salads the compliment the taste of the cheese as well. Nothing wacky in there.

Another vote for cheese salad (on wholemeal bread though)
Mature cheddar, tomato, cucumber, onion, lettuce & salad cream 😍

Would never have been my first choice before I tried it, but M&S's egg and tomato sandwich is gorgeous.

White bread, fresh chicken and Mayonnaise is one of the best I think. But I also ones like Brie and grape or Brie and bacon and chilli jam!

The best is a boiled ham and salad barm with salad cream although I am partial to chicken and sweetcorn with mayo on a barm. Nowadays, because I try to be veggie I just have egg and salad barm with salad cream, it's not as good but it's ok.

ETA I do like mozzarella, tomato, basil with pesto on a baguette and also brie, cranberry and rocket baguette but they aren't an everyday sandwich, more of a weekend treat. And, you can't beat a crisp butty on white, sliced bread

I bet that's an innuendo , but we used to have slices of tongue in sandwiches for our tea on a Saturday after we'd been shopping at Presto as a kid.
I'll never forget looking in our fridge and seeing a full cows tongue sitting on the shelf, massive! My mum and dad fed us all kinds of offal, I hated brawn sandwiches

This came ready sliced from the delicatessen counter, so it was like ham with a different texture.

If I make a sandwich for lunch , I like tuna mayo or egg mayo.

Cheese and ham. But it has to be just cheese and ham. No leafy tit, no crunchy tit, no sloppy mayo tit.

Fav cold sandwich is either a cheese and coleslaw - which my husband and I call a funeral sandwich (because I’m our experience it’s a funeral staple here in N.I) Or a cheese salad with egg. I don’t like meat in sandwiches. Dunno why.

Anything without tomato 🍅 in.. it contaminates the sandwich even when it’s removed 🤢

m&s used to do this poached salmon and watercress sandwich thats amazing but I haven’t been able to find it since covid.
Or, warburtons toastie white bread, dairylea cheese spread and ready salted walkers
