I do weights - can’t stand all the people being like juST GO FOr a WaLK InsTEAd when I say about my frustrations over the gyms being closed. Going for a walk isn’t going to work Karen. I am lucky in that I have a small amount of kit at home, but I can’t do much here cos we’re above someone else - can’t be dropping weights and stuff. Have been doing a lot of bodyweight stuff too. Haven’t been doing too bad but seriously losing motivation and hope now.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with walking. Walking a few miles a day is much better than doing nothing at all. Hope you get you motivation back.

Pre-COVID I was doing maybe 5 gym classes (Zumba, legs/bum/tum kinda thing) a week, no resistance training at all. Halfway through lockdown decided I wanted to kick it up a notch and actually see some difference.

I took the local CrossFit box up on their 6 week fundamentals offer and finished in time for gyms opening last week so now do CrossFit 4/5 times a week and we also kitted our garage out with weights, rack, rower etc so doing strength training and cardio at home inbetween.

also doing a 30 day ab challenge set by one of the top CrossFit athletes. Lockdown really kicked my butt into gear.

I walk to work that’s a 45 min walk, I have a manual job I work in a warehouse so do a lot of lifting & carrying, I walk home (up bank) I did the school run twice a day that’s a 2 mile walk as well for the whole school run, can’t afford the gym & just don’t have the time between my kids, granddaughter & needy husband, yet I’m overweight, can’t shift weight at all, I did see a nurse about my lack of weight loss she said because I walk a lot I won’t lose weight as my body is so used to it, came out feeling like utter crap! I’ve been overweight all my adult life so given up now.
Um.. don’t know what that nurse is on about? Your body doesn’t get used to exercise? Walking is exercise. Have you looked into being in a calorie deficit because that’s the only way you will effectively lose weight. You’re already doing good with the walking and manual job, that will burn calories, but generally if you’re not losing weight then you’re eating more than your maintenance.
I hope this doesn’t come across rude I genuinely just trying to give advice, I have struggled with weight my whole life too but lost a lot just by making sure I had a calorie deficit and walking 10-20,000 steps a day. No other exercise

The only exercise I do is walking. Never been to the gym, hate workouts, can’t run. I try and do 25,000 steps a day. Not a workout but still exercise.

I lift weights six times a week for roughly an hour, then do 10-15 minutes of core followed by a bike based HIIT session at the end.

Pre-covid, I was going to a Barre studio 4-5 times a week. It was a mixture of HIIT and strength training. It got me in really good shape.
Since Covid, we've set up a gym in the basement. I work out about 5 times a week. Doing a lot of strength and some cardio. I actually think I am stronger than when I was going to the gym.
I use Youtube channels. My favourites are fitness blender, madfit, heather robertson, and caroline girvan. I found I like the videos most where they don't talk and it is just a countdown timer and music.

I run, lift weights and do yoga. Though I’ve not lifted properly since before lockdown started fir obvious reasons. I worked on my running instead and am now at just short of 10k and did home hit workouts instead.

I power walk and run 3/4 days a week then kettlebell and plank afterwards, this I do during school holidays when I’m not working.

When I’m working I walk to work and back so do about 15,000 a day but nothing else because I’m knackered when I get home.

It's actually quite surprising just how many steps 10,000 is. My husband and I went a walk in the countryside last week and it was almost 7 miles and I had only done 8000 odd steps according to my FitBit.
I don't think your FitBit is recording your steps accurately. 9000 steps for me is around 4 miles and I'm 6 foot tall. If I do 7 miles it's around 14000 steps.

Pre-lockdown I trained with a PT 3 days per week. Minimum 15k steps per day.
Ordered a peloton during lockdown and highly recommend it, it’s fabulous.

What exercise do you do? What have you done today? How often do you work out?
Do you go to the gym? If so, what’s your routine?
Do you work out from home? Any recommendations?

Since the gyms closed I have been doing HIIT workouts at home and walking.
I do Joe Wick’s 15 minute HIIT on YouTube and make sure I go on a couple of walks a day to reach my daily target of 10,000 steps.
YouTube is great for searching for work out videos -there’s hundreds. All levels, and different types e.g cardio, yoga, strength, etc

Ah cheers I’ve reset it on my app and it appears to be working right now. Around 5.5 miles is now 10,000 steps for me!

Does anyone have any advice for me and my shin splint? I began running which I’ve now stopped as it’s too painful. I now walk more and have invested in some decent trainers. The pain is still prominent in my left leg though. I’ve been icing and using KT tape and compression sleeves when walking but the pain still lingers.

The Courtney Black workouts are great, I was doing them since the start up until about 2 weeks ago and I really noticed a difference. I don’t weigh myself but I’ve been fitting back into clothes I’d got too big for and other people have noticed I look slimmer.
