Dry March 2021

I find the app really helpful for the way it phrases things, a dry day is great but a reduction as a general trend is also a big step that takes commitment and hard work. A bit of drizzle in amongst the dry spells!

I miss the gym too! that’s my problem too being a perfectionist. Once I’ve fucked up though I struggle to pick up the pieces!

Bumped into my friend earlier as I was turning into his road and was actually so glad of the lockdown. He is a terrible influence ordinarily if we bumped into each other early evening we’d be down the pub in a heartbeat and I’d not be home until hours later then be sick in my waste paper basket whilst wondering wtf had happened (that only happened once btw ) was such a relief to have a brief chat through the car window then be like ‘BYEEEE’

Hey guys, I still haven’t been drinking and honestly haven’t even thought about it. I’m on antibiotics at the moment anyway and I’m also trying to lose the 100lbs I gained last year and I was pleasantly surprised today to see that I’m almost a quarter of the way there! I did start running again but then I got ill but I’m hoping to go out tomorrow.
I am loving the clear head and my mental health has never been better and I definitely think not drinking has contributed to that so I don’t plan on drinking any time soon. Maybe on my birthday or something but that’s a while away yet so we will see!

I think this is why I love this thread. It's not about 'Dry March' (the title literally only comes because we have continued the threads since official Dry Jan), it's about our members wanting a life change. Wanting to see what a life with reduced alcohol looks like. Some of us are completely dry, others have had a couple of drinks in total, others have had full on binge weekends...but our commonality is we all value our lives and want to try and live without the terrible way we all feel after drinking.

I know things will shift and change when life gets back to normal, but I just feel great not drinking!!

Officially half way to Easter Sunday today! Hoping the second half goes a bit quicker cos I’m starting to feel a bit like I’m in the desert got a bottle of Nosecco in for the weekend. Our recycling bin blew over last night. That would never have happened if it was full of empty bottles not just cans and milk cartons

Bought lots of kombucha and coke 0, absolutely love it. @SpiceWeasel, you are doing marvellous. Our Bin was completely full this week, mostly soft drink cans, but few wine bottles from my last weekend binging too. I had to sneak few into my neighbour’s one. He’s moved out and we had an agreement we can. But gosh, how embarrassing

i completely agree with you! I feel amazing not drinking, not even craving it. My mental health has never been better and it’s so great waking up with a clear head every morning

I’m still going too! Haven’t even thought about having alcohol and I’m loving it! Now if only I had the same willpower with working out I’m putting off doing some weights and abs right now.

Me too! Had some other health stuff going on (nothing serious) which has made it even easier in a way because it’s one less thing for my body and brain to contend with. Back on the crisps though

I’m still going. Haven’t been completely dry since dry jan finished but I’ve cut down so much - only had 6 instances where I’ve had a drink or two rather than the bottle or two I’d usually sink on a weekend. Feeling much better.

I had a can of raspberry mojito on Mothers Day and felt totally satisfied with just that! Another booze free weekend for me ahead.

Loving coop 0.5% alcohol Sauv Blanc as it has just that slight alcoholy taste like wine. Also whoever recommended the Crushed Mint Robinsons cordial, omg I mixed with lemonade and loads of ice and it tasted just like a mojito! So will probably have that at some point too

Oh I’ll give her coop one a go. I love the mint robinsons too and tried a sparkling frexinet rose 0.5% from Sainsbury’s which was lovely.

Must try that Sauvignon, it’s my fave. The trouble is it might awaken my alco tooth. I’m trying really really hard.

Well done everyone .
So amazing to hear that it’s not just me who usually downs a bottle or two each weekend.
And it’s such vicious circle, because it affects my exercise routine and then I feel disappointed and after I’ll eat/drink away my sorrows and then the cycle starts again.

Still going! finding it harder now on last shift of the week as works getting more stressful with Covid rules it’s making everything so much harder to do for last minute things So getting more stressed.

But I’m really hoping I keep drink free as if I can on June 1st I’ll be 150 days drink free!

Still going! Bit tempted by a prosecco tonight but I’m determined to make it through Lent now

Lovely to read everyone’s updates

Still going here with Lent! It’s 31 days today so feels like Easter Sunday is in sight now. Feeling really good and proud of myself. I’ve been so boring and haven’t even had any replacements this time round other than the Aldi cucumber & mint tonic! They also have an elderflower sparkling water in the special buys at the mo which is nice. I never even opened my Nosecco last week looking forward to having a drink but also scared at the same time I have been keeping up properly with my fitness and would love to say I’ve lost weight but really struggling to shift it still - defo doing better than if I was drinking though cos I just have no off switch with food either when I’ve had a few.

I started on 1st March. I found the first couple of weekends really tough. After dinner I would go for a shower, brush my teeth & put on my dressing gown, which was a new routine that helped.
I thought my skin would suddenly look amazing and my running times would get loads better and I would immediately lose weight. None of that has happened but super happy of my 22 days of no drinking and I'm sure it's helped my mental health.
Thanks to everyone who has posted

I’ve loved still having this thread tbh, every time I’m thinking of cracking I come and have a read! So uplifting! I’m still tracking in the app too. Have really minimised drinking (and I mean, by 95%) for another month, after total dry jan. Well done everyone still trucking!! Feels really good to have restructured and reset my attitude to alcohol? And knowing others in the same boat. Thanks guys
