I think Irish people tend to do a lot of the big life milestones a lot later than in other countries. Most people I know are well into their thirties by the time they have children or get married. There’s a culture of living or working abroad for a year or two in your twenties so people are rarely “settled” at that stage. And it wouldn’t be odd to be going out with someone for 5+ years before there’s talk of getting married.

That really is so interesting! I'm from the NJ/NY/CT Tri-State area, which contains large cities and urban areas. In the more rural parts of the US Mid-West & South, the age to be married/have kids is even younger - 21 & up!

I definitely agree it was accidental! She is clearly just not wanting to admit they were careless. Although my perspective is that pregnant women are beautiful, any woman practically starving herself to have a flat tummy is definitely not looking to add a basketball to their profile.

Is she not just with Paddy slightly over a year? Was it not 2019 she was with John and meant to be moving into his apartment then everything went quiet she was back home and suddenly with Paddy?

I think it's more than identity privacy. As much as Melanie annoys me to the high heavens on so many things, I couldn't fault her for not (fully) sharing her baby online. 1) It's not smart to share baby & child photos with thousands (even hundreds) of complete strangers since it only takes ONE weirdo to use or share the photos for untoward purposes. 2) babies only stay babies for so long, and then they are toddlers and then in school and have friends and it isn't fair to have an online presence you didn't request. 3) Dad's do have a say and 4) not everyone that follows these ladies does it with the purest intentions - "hate followers" are surely a thing. Who wants to hear comments about their child's appearance, etc.? (all for the child to perhaps read at some point.) So, all things considered, I can't fault either of these ladies for keeping their babes faces private. And I accept that as mums they do want/need to include baby/mommy content since that's 90% of their lives at the moment. So, I'll give them all that. There's plenty to snark on the rest of the crazy things they do lol

No no I agree with not showing babies/children etc for all of the above reasons and more, I don't with my own but what I mean is that it is counterintuitive to publicly share a child's full name, date of birth - both parental names/identity, we all know place of birth and im sure plenty know where she lives. To me that is more of your identity (particularly for social security reasons and going forward as he gets older that information is pertinent for registering everywhere and anywhere - PPS, healthcare, creche, school) than just your physical appearance as a baby if that makes sense

Edited to add: Melanie didn't share any of the above which I feel is more true privacy I mean they are still entitled to those family photos and moments on insta etc they want to share while keeping baby safe

She uploaded the video, if I understand right, the past few weeks she has been feeling low bc ppl are being mean saying she gets her hair, nails & brows done too often and question if she ever looks after her baby......
Also she finally found out which dept in work she will be in, and she is grieving her Granny & Granddad a lot at the mo cos she can't tell them the exciting things happening in her life. That part is very understandably.

I can imagine her swanning down Main Street Mullingar with her barbie hair at the launch of some shop thinking she is done sort of A list celeb but in reality she’s a “hot mess”. I watched that vlog start to finish and I could not for the life of me remember a single thing she said or did. It was that boring.

Yeah after her & Jimmy broke up, she was really heartbroken & she went traveling with her friend John to China & Vietnam. I'm not sure how long they went away for but it seems like it was a couple months.
She fell in love with him & moved in & they did a refurbishment on his apartment but then he broke up with her.
Then she moved back home & met Paddy. He seems nice.

@Buffyxangel Yeah she has spoken about having an eating disorder in some of her videos. I didn't think you could be a nutritionist if you suffer from an eating disorder in Ireland though?

I used to like her, but she is a bit dull. She doesn't work as a nutritionist anymore she has a government job now I think? Anyway, I started back watching her when she announced her pregnancy but saw one of her vlog titles on YouTube yesterday and she basically clickbaited with something along the lines of 20 week scan and bad news or something like that. I didn't hang around for the context and probably won't follow her anymore as I feel that is just wrong like already using a baby for attention and that kind of wording is very insensitive. Can't see the relationship lasting either for some reason.

Yeah the bad news was about her "fib-er-oid" getting bigger.

Her doctor told her to rest & take it easy, not even to do any Xmas shopping, yet she goes on long enough walks through bumpy fields

I wonder if she was made permanent in her job cos she said her temp contract was being extended & I think she said she was being made permanent but that was before the pregnancy. Do you think she will even want a regular job after the baby comes?
